2010-2011 MSA SPORTS CUP UPDATED STANDINGS

The chase for the MSA Sports Cup is now two-third through the 2010-2011 high school sports season. The MSA Sports Cup is a challenge to determine the best sports program for the school year from the WPIAL in each classification. Here are the second updated standings through the 2010-2011 winter sports season.

Points are earned for the success of each TEAM sport in the fall, winter and spring seasons. ONLY sports with at least 30% participation of WPIAL schools are included.

Each school in the WPIAL was placed in one of four classifications based on enrollment numbers for both boys and girls.

The sports used in the competition during the winter season are:

WINTER:

Ice Hockey
Wrestling
Boys Swimming/Diving
Girls Swimming/Diving

This year's point system is as follows:

WPIAL Championship – 50

PIAA Championship – 50

WPIAL Runner-Up – 25

PIAA Runner-Up – 25

WPIAL Playoff 3rd Place Playoff Finish – 10

WPIAL Playoff 4th Place Playoff Finish – 5

WPIAL Section/Conference Regular Season Championship – 20
(includes 10 points for playoff berth)

WPIAL Playoff Berth (for playoffs only) – 10

PIAA Playoff Berth (for playoffs only) – 10
