Starting today, TribLive HSSN will break down the top players at one position per day until Week Zero. Here is a look at the top quarterbacks for the 2024 season.

1. Matt Sieg

Fort Cherry

Junior, 6-0, 175

If his 1,000/1,000 freshman year wasn’t good enough, Sieg proved himself again as both a passer and rusher last season. The dual-threat quarterback rushed for 2,234 yards and 39 touchdowns while also passing for 1,650 yards and 20 TDs. He led Fort Cherry to a WPIAL Class A title and a PIAA runner-up finish. He is a multi-sport athlete who plays basketball, baseball and runs track, winning a state gold medal as a sprint-relay runner last spring. His college future might not be at QB, but the versatile athlete already has FBS offers from Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Akron, Buffalo, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Rutgers, Southern Cal, Syracuse and Wisconsin.

2. Nolan DiLucia

Peters Township

Junior, 6-2, 195

DiLucia exceeded expectations for almost all first-year starters. As a sophomore, DiLucia led the WPIAL with 3,131 passing yards and added 30 touchdowns. If that weren’t enough, he also led Peters Township to its first WPIAL title and a spot in the state championship game. He showed his athleticism by rushing for almost 500 yards and eight more scores. He will play some safety this fall, and received his first Division I offer from Miami (Ohio).

3. Jonah Williamson

Trinity

Junior, 6-2, 200

In a conference with McKeesport, Thomas Jefferson and Latrobe, it was Williamson who earned the Big Seven Offensive Player of the Year honor from coaches. He passed for 1,860 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing 1,002 yards and 13 TDs. His dual-threat abilities helped the Highlanders reach the WPIAL 4A quarterfinals. He has college offers from Robert Morris and Lehigh.

4. Luke Kosko

Thomas Jefferson

Senior, 6-4, 210

Kosko shared snaps with a returning senior starter last year but has the Jaguars’ QB job to himself now. He passed for 996 yards and nine touchdowns in his first action in a TJ uniform. He started for Seton LaSalle as a freshman but missed the 2022 season after the WPIAL questioned his transfer to TJ and ruled him ineligible. He lists college offers from Charlotte and Marshall.

5. Cameron Walter

Woodland Hills

Junior, 6-1, 180

Throwing to a wide receiver that might be the fastest in the WPIAL certainly doesn’t hurt (that would be WPIAL 100 meters champion Scoop Smith). But Walter showed his own abilities when he passed for 1,653 yards and 24 touchdowns a season ago. Already a three-year starter, Walter also topped 1,000 yards passing as a freshman.

Jaivin Peel

Western Beaver

Sophomore, 6-0, 185

Peel set a WPIAL freshman record by passing for 2,898 yards last season and leading Western Beaver to the WPIAL 2A quarterfinals. As a student at Lincoln Park, he plays football for nearby Western Beaver through a co-op between the schools. His eligibility was in question after he transferred to Central Catholic and back this summer. However, the WPIAL granted him full eligibility Monday.
