Sewickley Academy, Quaker Valley players among PIHL all-star selections

The PIHL all-star player lists have been released, and Sewickley Academy and Quaker Valley are represented on the Varsity A and AA teams, respectively.
Panthers senior forward Matthew Hajdukiewicz will play in the Varsity A game. He is the second-leading scorer in the division with 25 goals through 12 games.
The Quakers had four players selected for the Varsity AA contest. They are senior forwards Cole Musser and Dan Fagan, junior forward Josh Bemis and senior defenseman Kevin Guererri.
The games will be Jan. 27, and Division 2 will kick everything off at noon. Varsity A is at 2 p.m., followed by Varsity AA at 4 and Varsity AAA at 6.
QV hockey returns to action
The Quaker Valley hockey team ends a 24-day break from competition with a game against Moon on Thursday at 9:10 p.m. at the Baierl Ice Complex in Warrendale.
The Quakers are 2-9-0-1 (five points) and are tied with Shaler and Armstrong for fifth in the Northwest Division. They are four points behind the Tigers (4-6-0-1, nine points).
QV is hoping to put a halt to a two-game losing streak after a 5-3 win over Penn-Trafford in early December.
Sewickley Academy girls basketball among scoring leaders
The Sewickley Academy girls basketball team is one of five squads in WPIAL Class A to average more than 50 points a game this season.
The Panthers, 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Section 1-1A, have scored 51.3 points through seven games. Only West Greene (67.4), Section 1 foe Rochester (62.0), Greensburg Central Catholic (61.4) and Section 1 rival Eden Christian (51.5) has tallied more per contest.
Sewickley Academy returns to section action Thursday evening at Union (1-10, 1-4).
