Norwin’s Gianni Rizzo made the most of his trip to Texas.

The senior linebacker was named defensive most valuable player Monday at the Blue-Gray Classic All-American Bowl in Houston.

A Youngstown State recruit, Rizzo was picked for the all-star game in September.

Rizzo played for Team 49, which lost to Team Lone Star, 29-10, at NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Texas.

“I felt great playing out there,” Rizzo said of his expeience. “I didn’t feel rusty at all. The last time I played football was my last game of the regular season.

“Getting to go against the top players from Texas was a great experience, and I was blessed to get defensive MVP.”
