High school roundup: Upper St. Clair edges Baldwin in Section 3-6A

Grant Walnoha and Joe Pulit each went 3 for 4 to help Upper St. Clair earn a 7-6 victory over Baldwin in a Section 3-6A baseball game Tuesday afternoon.
Aaron Stephan tossed a complete-game six-hitter with five strikeouts to earn the win for the Panthers (6-3, 2-1).
Nick Dolan doubled, and Harry Depetro took the loss for Baldwin (2-3, 0-3).
Peters Township 24, Brashear 2 (4 inn.) — Nick Winslow was 2 for 3 with five RBIs, and Mac Ciocco had a double, triple and three RBIs as Peters Township (4-2, 3-0) won a Section 3-6A game.
West Allegheny 14, Carrick 0 (5 inn.) — Devan Zirwas threw a no-hitter with four strikeouts, Shea Downing knocked in three runs, and Brandon Norris and Mason Timko each had two RBIs as No. 3 West Allegheny (6-1, 3-0) won in Section 3-5A.
New Castle 15, Obama Academy 4 — Rocco Bernadina doubled, homered and had four RBIs, and Matt Senchak was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs as New Castle (3-3, 2-0) rolled to a Section 2-4A win.
Elizabeth Forward 18, McKeesport 7 – Patrick Midna was 4 for 5 with four RBIs, and Nate Cole was 3 for 5 with three RBIs as Elizabeth Forward (2-1, 2-1) won in Section 3-4A.
New Brighton 5, Shady Side Academy 4 — In Section 2-3A, Jackson Hall doubled in a run to help New Brighton (4-2, 2-1) earn a victory.
Rochester 17, Aliquippa 0 (4 inn.) — Kadin Mersing was 4 for 4 with three RBIs to help Rochester (2-2, 2-1) win in Section 1-A. Shane Hopkins threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts.
California 17, Mapletown 0 (3 inn.) — Nate Zemany was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Brody Connor hit a three-run homer, and Fred Conard was 2 for 2 with three RBIs as No. 2 California (5-1, 3-0) won in Section 2-A. Jacob Piktel struck out six in the three-inning no-hitter.
Charleroi 16, Monessen 4 — Hunter Perry was 3 for 3 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs as Charleroi (4-2) won a nonsection game at Monessen (3-3). Faith Johnston threw a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts to earn the victory.
Springdale 15, Nazareth Prep 0 (4 inn.) — Issac Kern had four hits, including two doubles and a triple, and drove in four runs as Springdale defeated Nazareth Prep (1-2) in nonsection play. Brandon John singled twice, doubled and drove in two runs. Josh Jones tripled, singled twice and drove in two runs. Jake Garmong struck out five and picked up the win for Springdale (1-4).
Softball
Serra Catholic 15, Shady Side Academy 0 (3 inn.) — Nina Grandey was 4 for 4 with two RBIs, and Natalie Tom was 2 for 2 with four RBIs to help Serra Catholic (4-2, 4-1) win a Section 2-2A game. Kaitlyn Conard and Madison Carr each plated three runs.
Bentworth 15, Avella 0 (3 inn.) — Leah Lindley had three RBIs, and Emilie Snyder, Zalie Skolyak and Kaylie Anderson all had two as Bentworth (4-5) won a nonsection game.
Jeannette 7, Washington 4 — Taylor-Lynn Finken had three hits to help Jeannette (3-2) win a nonsection game.
