PIHL players come together to win America’s Showcase tournament

A group of players from the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League came together last week to claim a second straight America’s Showcase tournament.

Team Pittsburgh traveled to St. Louis and went 6-0 in the tournament. It averaged nine goals a game and gave up just five overall with three shutouts.

It breezed past team Texas, 9-2, in the championship game.

Members of Team Pittsburgh are North Allegheny’s Richie Karapandi and Tyler Duderstadt, Cathedral Prep’s Jordan Adams and Jake Kruszewski, Pine-Richland’s Danny Stauffer and Jordan Rosenbaum, Bethel Park’s JC Bele and Vincent Vituccio, Connellsville’s Ryan Brown, General McLane’s Tanner Daniels, Meadville’s Nicholas Frantz, Mt. Lebanon’s Wyatt George, Hempfield’s Jared Gerger, Westmont Hilltop’s Hunter Partsch and Corbin Ragno, Franklin Regional’s Oldrich Virag, Montour’s Dustin Geregach, Conneaut’s Andrew Jacobs, Beaver’s Jeremy Jenkins and Baldwin’s Ross Zofcin.

Nine skaters scored at least four goals throughout the six games led by Brown, Virag and Daniels with six goals apiece.

Virag finished with a team-best 17 points as he added 11 assists.

Karapandi and Stauffer split time in goal for Team Pittsburgh. Each won three games.
