Franklin Regional sophomore Andrew Muraco said he was hitting his spots from the start Friday. And for that reason, the sharp right-hander was spot on.

Muraco pitched a complete-game no-hitter as No. 2 Franklin Regional blanked Woodland Hills, 3-0, in a Section 1-5A game in Murrysville.

The Panthers (13-1, 10-0) clinched at least a share of their first section title since 2006 with Muraco in control.

“He was throwing hard,” Franklin Regional coach Bobby Saddler said. “He got ahead a lot which enabled him to keep hitters off balance. He’s been tough all year.”

Muraco walked the first batter of the day, and another in the fifth, but struck out a career-high 14.

“I felt like I was keeping them on their toes while pounding the strike zone,” Muraco said. “I felt like I had really good life on my fastball today and sharp break on my slider … really good stuff today.”

For the season, Muraco is 4-0 with a 1.19 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 29 innings. He has one save.

Muraco also has shown some pop at the plate.
