With NFL first-round picks Myles Garrett, Mike Evans and Von Miller all recent Aggies, Texas A&M football coaches can make a strong nationwide pitch to recruits.
This week, Jimbo Fisher’s staff dipped into Western Pennsylvania to offer a pair of defensive linemen.
Westinghouse junior Dayon Hayes and Central Catholic sophomore Elliot Donald each announced offers this week from Texas A&M.
A third standout, Mars junior offensive lineman Michael Carmody, announced an Aggies offer March 27.
Texas A&M (9-4) was ranked 16th in the final AP poll last season.
Hayes, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive lineman, has seen his stock soar in recent days. He added an Ohio State offer on April 29 and announced offers from Illinois and Mississippi State in the past week.
Pitt, Penn State and West Virginia are already among Hayes’ growing list of options.
Donald, a 6-2, 230-pound defensive tackle, is one of the state’s top recruits in the 2021 graduating class. The nephew of NFL star Aaron Donald also announced an offer Tuesday from LSU, another seldom-seen school around the WPIAL.
Donald also lists offers from Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and others.
