Kiski Area’s Sean Adamski has had a special senior season on the golf course.

Last week, Adamski recorded his first hole-in-one on No. 4 at Murrysville Golf Course when the Cavaliers faced Gateway. Adamski earned medalist honors with a 39.

“I saw it go in, but it didn’t really process for me,” Adamski said. “I thought there was no way that it went in, and everyone was like yeah it went in. It was just overwhelming joy, really.”

Then on Wednesday afternoon, Adamski accomplished another first. After a solid tee shot down the middle of the fairway on No. 9 at Saxonburg golf course, he drilled a fairway wood just short of the green and his ball rolled onto the green and into the hole for a double eagle.

“I’ve played a ton of golf in my life, and I’ve never accomplished either of those,” Kiski Area coach Matt Stasko said. “He’s had both in a week. I think that says a lot.”

The double eagle and hole-in-one are examples of the season Adamski is having. In almost every match this season, Adamski has been his team’s low scorer.

“I’ve been playing really well after putting some time in this offseason to sharpen some stuff up,” Adamski said. “My short game and my putting were things that I really needed to improve on, and it’s shown. I’ve been shaving strokes on the greens and around them.”

Stasko said Adamski has improved his consistency, as well.

“Early in the season, a couple rounds got away from him a little bit,” Stasko said. “But he’s now getting to the point where everything is around 40, and he’s starting to get that leveled-off play. He’s starting to look like a No. 1 and playing consistently night-in and night-out.”

The Cavaliers are 4-3 overall and 1-3 in section.

Hard work pays off

The Fox Chapel football team isn’t off to a great start, but colleges are noticing running back/linebacker Sammy Brown.

Before the season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder received his first offer from Dayton.

At the time, Brown said it felt great but was going to give him more motivation and hunger to keep working hard.

It has showed through two games. He has 19 total tackles, including 13 in a 35-28 loss to North Hills in Week 1. He also caused a fumble and has two sacks.

On Labor Day, Brown received his second Division I offer from Valparaiso.

Red, White and Blue Cross Country Invitational

Last weekend, the Fox Chapel girls and boys cross country teams swept the Gateway Invitational.

Christian Fitch won the boys race in 17 minutes, 37 seconds as the Foxes beat the field by 38 points. Four runners finished in the top 10.

For the girls, Grace Sisson and Brooke Kraly finished 1-2 with times of 20:56 and 21:16.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, Fox Chapel, along with Riverview and Kiski Area, will compete against some of the top teams in the WPIAL at the Red, White and Blue Classic at the Schenley Oval Sportsplex.

A visit down south

Plum volleyball player Makayla Jackson is planning to visit the University of Miami this weekend on a recruiting trip.

An assistant coach from the Hurricanes observed practice this past Monday. The 6-foot junior, who plays club volleyball for Revolution Volleyball, has garnered interest from several other Division I schools, including Pitt. She was named first-team all-section last year.
