North Allegheny notebook: NA girls soccer moves to 14-0

Abigail Stager had three goals, and Sam Braden added two to lead the top-ranked North Allegheny girls soccer team to a 10-0 win over North Hills in a Section 1-4A game Oct. 4.
Averie Bierker, Addison Heim, Abby Lang, Ally Ruiz and Kieran Shannon also scored for the Tigers, who improved to 14-0 overall and 11-0 in section play.
They are averaging nearly 6 goals per game and have outscored section opponents 52-4.
Boys soccer tops North Hills
North Allegheny’s boys soccer team scored a 4-2 win over North Hills on Oct. 3 to stay unbeaten.
Arnav Patel scored twice, and Mykola Denysenko, Zach Nash added goals for the No. 2-ranked Tigers.
Dante Accamando and Ben Waldo made four saves in goal in the win which helped North Allegheny move to 12-0-2 overall and 9-0-2 in Section 1-4A.
The Tigers have a rematch with Seneca Valley (10-0-3, 8-0-3) on Thursday (Oct. 12) in a battle for first place in the section. The teams tied 1-1 on Sept. 19.
NA runners claim section titles
The North Allegheny boys and girls cross country teams swept Butler and Shaler on Oct. 3 to secure the Division I, Section 3 championships.
Robin Kucler won the girls race in 18 minutes, 34 seconds as NA beat Butler, 17-46, and Shaler, 15-50.
Jack Bertram finished second for the NA boys behind Butler’s Drew Griffith, who set a course record in 15:14. The Tigers beat Butler, 27-30, and Shaler, 15-50.
Both teams finished the dual meet season 7-0.
They will compete at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet on Oct. 19, ahead of the WPIAL championships Oct. 27.
Manesiotis qualifies for PIAA tournament
North Allegheny senior Megan Manesiotis show a 36-hole score of 169 to finish in seventh place last week at the WPIAL Class 3A girls golf championships, at Diamond Run Golf Club.
She shot 86 in the first round and 83 in the final round.
She will compete at the PIAA tournament Oct. 16-17, at Penn State’s Blue Golf Course.
NA girls tennis advances to WPIALs
North Allegheny’s girls tennis team finished the regular season 15-1 after a 4-1 win over Franklin Regional on Oct. 3.
Laeticia Wessel and Audrey Zheng won singles matches in straight sets. The doubles teams of Tia Soussou/Siya Jain and Rebecca Murphy/Kaitlyn Zeman also won in straight sets.
The Tigers earned the No. 2 seed for the WPIAL Class 3A playoffs and were scheduled to host Baldwin in the first round.
Field hockey team falls to P-T
North Allegheny’s field hockey team dropped a 2-1 nonsection decision to Penn-Trafford on Oct. 4.
Sophie Grafton scored, and Kayla Joyce made 18 saves for the Tigers, who fell to 5-7-2 overall.
North Allegheny entered the week 3-3-2 in Section 1-3A, trailing Pine-Richland (9-0), Mt. Lebanon (6-1-2) and Peters Township (6-2-2).
