Westmoreland County football players to watch in 2023 Week 10

Player of the week
Tristyn Tavares
Norwin, So., QB
The sophomore ended the 2023 regular season with a memorable performance against Hempfield. Tavares threw for a career-high 318 yards and six touchdowns, completing 19 of 30 passes, and rushed for a score as Norwin won 47-21 over Hempfield. He and senior Luke Denny connected nine times for 211 yards and two scores, and senior Jackson Pons caught seven passes for 101 yards and four scores. Tavares also broke the school’s single-season record for passing yards with 2,441 and set a new record for touchdown passes with 25.
Players to watch
Jermere Majors
Monessen, Sr., OL/DT/DE/LB
The senior has made 71 tackles and recorded four quarterback sacks. He also forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble. He also anchors the Greyhounds offensive line.
Kymon’e Brown
Jeannette, So., WR/DB
The sophomore is the Jayhawks’ top receiver with 26 catches for 464 yards and seven touchdowns. He also can play quarterback and has rushed eight times for 81 yards. Defensively, he has two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
Nathan Barkley
Derry, Sr., FB/ILB
The senior has rushed for 299 yards on 38 carries and scored two touchdowns. He also has intercepted three passes and returned one for a touchdown. He scored three touchdowns against Ligonier Valley in Week 9.
