Fiona Mahan scored on a header in the first half and a 25-yard blast in the second half to send Avonworth to a 2-0 victory over Shady Side Academy (17-6-1) in a rematch of the WPIAL championship game in the PIAA Class 2A girls soccer semifinals Tuesday.

Emma Luther and Gianna Babusci had assists for the Antelopes (22-1-2), who will meet District 4 champ Central Columbia in the state finals Friday.

Conestoga 2, North Allegheny 0 – Kate Kemmerley and Isabelle Allred scored in a six-minute span of the second half to lead District 1 runner-up Conestoga (21-3) past WPIAL runner-up North Allegheny (22-2) in the Class 4A semifinals. Conestoga will meet Pennridge in the state finals Friday.

Boys soccer

Charleroi 2, Bentworth 1 – Bryce Large scored the game-winning goal with 25 seconds left in regulation as Charleroi avenged a loss in the WPIAL championship game by beating Bentworth in the Class A semifinals. Arlo McIntyre scored in the first half for Charleroi (22-1). Ryan Colbert tied the score for Bentworth (20-3) on a penalty kick in the second half. Charleroi will meet Delco Christian in the state finals Saturday.

Quaker Valley 1, Central Columbia 0 – Jack Karwoski scored the winning goal as Quaker Valley (20-4) defeated Central Columbia (20-3) in the Class 2A semifinals. The Quakers will meet Camp Hill in the state finals Friday. It will be the 17th appearance in the state finals for the Quakers, who will be seeking their ninth PIAA championship.

Girls volleyball

North Allegheny 3, Landisville Hempfield 2 – North Allegheny is one win away from its eighth consecutive state championship. The Tigers (19-1) won a five-set thriller over Landisville Hempfield (20-1), the District 3 champions, 26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9, in the Class 4A semifinals. North Allegheny will meet District 1 champion Unionville in the PIAA finals Saturday.

Hampton 3, North Catholic 0 – In a rematch of the WPIAL finals, the result was the same as Hampton (24-0) swept North Catholic (20-2) in a PIAA Class 3A semifinal, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20. Hampton will face District 1 champion Pope John Paul II in the state finals Saturday. It is the second finals appearance in program history for the Talbots, who are seeking their first title. They lost in four games to Spring Grove in 2021.

Philipsburg-Osceola 3, Beaver 1 – In a battle of unbeaten teams, District 6 champion Philipsburg-Osceola (25-0) topped WPIAL champion Beaver (22-1) in four sets, 25-12, 25-18, 20-25, 25-20. P-O will meet undefeated District 3 champ Trinity in the state finals Saturday.

Hockey

Blackhawk 6, Richland 1 – Finn Conlon scored twice and Matias Huber, Dante Mannarino and Beck Harry each had a goal and an assist to lead Blackhawk (5-1) in Class A. Cooper Lorence scored for Richland (1-6).

Chartiers Valley 6, Wheeling Park 2 – Chris Deangelis had two goals and an assist and Tyler Held recorded a goal and two assists to power Chartiers Valley (7-0) in Class A. Brady Nairn, Noah Callender and Austin Tornabene also scored for CV. Gavin Hudrlik and Landon Szazynski scored for Wheeling Park (4-3).

Franklin Regional 12, Norwin 0 – Max Rutkowski scored four goals and added an assist to power Franklin Regional (2-2-2) to a Class 2A win over Norwin (4-2-1). Max Williams collected two goals and three assists, Derek German scored twice, and Brendan Yohe had a goal and two assists for Franklin Regional (2-2-2).

Greensburg Salem 2, McDowell 1 – Max Addison and Chase Kushner scored to lift Greensburg Salem (6-3) to a Class A victory. Gino Heenan scored for McDowell (2-4).

North Allegheny 4, Canon-McMillan 0 – Ryan Jackman had two goals and an assist and Evan Kerber added a goal and an assist to lead North Allegheny (6-1) in Class 3A. Andrew Long had a 17-save shutout. Aiden Bobbs made 49 saves for Canon-McMillan (0-6).

Penn-Trafford 6, Bishop McCort 5 (SO) – Jack Blank’s second goal of the game tied the score with 26 seconds left in regulation, and Penn-Trafford went on to pick up a shootout win in Class 2A. Bryce Kropczynski had a goal and two assists and Drew Hall and Robert Thatcher each added a goal and an assist for Penn-Trafford (3-3). Sammy Treager scored twice for Bishop McCort (3-2-1).

Peters Township 4, Bethel Park 1 – Blake Evancic scored twice, Drew Alexander added a goal and an assist, and Charlie Caputo also scored as Peters Township (4-3) picked up a Class 3A victory. Kyle Thomas made 24 saves. Doug Hartman scored for Bethel Park (3-3-1).

Wheeling Catholic 9, Hampton 7 – Aden Cooey’s fifth goal of the game broke a third-period tie to lead Wheeling Catholic (4-2) to a Class A win. Coeey added two assists. Logan Pielech also had a seven-point game, collecting three goals and four assists. Daniel Leyes had two goals and two assists and Sean Sullivan also scored twice for Hampton (1-6).
