High school sports roundup for Jan. 28, 2024: No. 1 Moon tops Montour at Hall of Fame Classic

Aiden Reesman scored 23 points and Elijah Guillory added 19 as Class 5A top-ranked Moon beat Montour, 71-61, in the PBC Hall of Fame Classic on Sunday at North Allegheny.

Charlie Depner added 16 points for Moon, which improved to 14-3 overall.

Jake Wolfe had 21 points, and Kaleb Platz added 15 for Montour (14-2), the No. 4-ranked team in Class 4A.

Allderdice 56, Mars 45 — At the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Allegheny, Asher Schwartz had 13 points to guide Allderdice (13-3) to a nonsection win. Ryan Ceh had 20 points to lead Mars (9-9).

Chartiers Valley 66, Pine-Richland 59 — Rudy Morris scored 19 points to help Chartiers Valley (9-9) win at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Allegheny. Danny Slizik had 13 points and Julius Best and Julian Semplice each had 11. Elijah Wentz and Carson Baer scored 14 apiece for Pine-Richland (6-10).

Franklin Regional 44, Obama Academy 35 — Cam Rowell’s 16 points helped Franklin Regional (15-2) earn a nonsection win at the Shootout at Seton Hill.

Torrien Perkins scored 18 points for Obama Academy (4-9).

McKeesport 62, Armstrong 56 — Brian Jones scored 16 points and Lamont Perkins added 15 as McKeesport won at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Allegheny.

Dom Cochran had 10 points for the Tigers (4-10).

Jack Valasek had 27 points and Jacob Szep added 18 for Armstrong (10-8)

OLSH 61, Carlynton 25 — Tiernan McCullough scored 15 points, and Greg Mineard had 11 as OLSH (14-4) rolled past Carlynton (3-13) in a nonsection game at the PBC Hall of Fame Classic at North Allegheny.

Girls basketball

Franklin Regional 46, Belle Vernon 33 — Olivia Orndorff scored 27 points as the Franklin Regional won a nonsection game at the Shootout at Seton Hill.

The Panthers (5-13) led 24-19 at halftime.

Caroline Lee had 12 points for Belle Vernon (9-10).
