District seeds: Fox Chapel 7-5; Bethel Park 7-6

Winner plays: Winner of 3-3 York Suburban (21-6)/7-1 Moon (24-3) on Friday in quarterfinals (time, site TBD)

Players to watch: Asher White, Fox Chapel; Michael Mathias, Bethel Park

Layup lines: Fox Chapel opened the PIAA playoffs with a 57-52 victory over Cathedral Prep on Friday. White tied a career-high with 23 points, and Jefferson Moorefield-Brown added 19. Will Siegel added 13 rebounds for the Foxes. Fox Chapel beat Bethel Park, 57-36, in the WPIAL fifth-place game Feb. 28, behind 16 points from Siegel. … Bethel Park scored a 59-45 victory over Hershey on Friday. Mathias had 22 points, and Shawn Davis added 20 for the Black Hawks, who made 10 3-pointers as a team. The Black Hawks beat South Fayette and Gateway in the WPIAL playoffs and lost to Shaler in the quarterfinals. Bethel Park averaged and allowed 58.9 points this season.
