J.D. Costanzo struck out eight and did not allow a run in four innings to lead North Allegheny to a 3-2 victory over Upper St. Clair in nonsection abseball Friday.

Owen Schall had a two-run double for the Tigers (1-0). Eli Rankin hit an RBI triple for the Panthers (1-2).

Armstrong 9, Freeport 8 – Armstrong (1-0) scored six runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead and went on to earn a nonsection win. Logan Badac doubled and plated three runs for the River Hawks. Michael Hanz doubled, tripled and had four RBIs for Freeport (0-1).

Avella 3, Western Beaver 0 – Isaiah Bradick struck out 10 over five scoreless innings to lead Avella (1-0) past Western Beaver (0-1) in nonsection play. Bryce Wright, Charles Rush and Cameron Ullom had a double and an RBI each for the Eagles.

Belle Vernon 10, Connellsville 3 – Belle Vernon (2-1) scored seven runs in the fourth inning to pull away from Connellsville (0-2) in a nonsection win. Lucas Judy was the winning pitcher for the Leopards and had a pair of singles and two RBIs. Jake Gedekoh had a double and three RBIs for the Leopards. Anthony Piasecki hit a two-run double for the Falcons.

Bethel Park 4, Seneca Valley 4 – Bethel Park (1-0-1) and Seneca Valley (0-0-1) played eight innings before ending in a tie due to rain and darkness. Ryan Piekutoski homered and drove in two for the Raiders. Kaden Flambard and Ryan Petras had a single and an RBI each for the Black Hawks.

Burrell 20, Penn Hills 19 – Ryan Bates went 4 for 4 with a double and four RBIs and Burrell (1-1) survived an eight-run top of the seventh by Penn Hills to hold on for a wild nonsection win. AJ McClafferty, Trey Coury and Mike McKay also doubled for the Bucs. Austin Philmore tripled twice, doubled, singled and plated four runs and Isaiah Mitchell singled three times for Penn Hills (0-1).

Chartiers Valley 8, Keystone Oaks 0 – Jules Prozzoly had seven strikeouts in five shutout innings to lead Chartiers Valley (1-0) past Keystone Oaks (0-2) in a nonsection game. Jake Federouch and Ethan Ridgeway recorded two hits each for the Colts. Roman Keaney singled twice for the Golden Eagles.

Deer Lakes 9, Highlands 6 – Ryan Cochran homered and had two RBIs for Deer Lakes (2-0) in a nonsection win. Anthony Smith, Jake Fleisher and Noah Shurina doubled for the Lancers. Carson Goldberg doubled and drove in a pair and Beckham Ochoa had an RBI double for Highlands (0-2).

East Allegheny 13, Greensburg Central Catholic 4 – Traynor Janosko went 4 for 4, Michael Cahill singled and tripled and Ryan Kirk singled and doubled for East Allegheny (2-0) in a nonsection win. Ian Shipley had three hits for Greensburg Central Catholic (1-1).

Elizabeth Forward 10, Albert Gallatin 0 – Charlie Nigut went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and AJ Grese had two singles and four RBIs to lead Elizabeth Forward (2-0) to a nonsection win. Gino Valenti hit two singles for Albert Gallatin (0-3).

Fox Chapel 7, Peters Township 3 – Fox Chapel put up six runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past Peters Township (2-2) for a nonsection win. Blake Krushinski singled three times and drove in a pair for the Foxes (1-1).

Frazier 15, Monessen 0 – Aiden Hardy had a single, a pair of RBIs and combined with Chase Smith on a three-inning no-hitter for Frazier (1-0) in a nonsection win over Monessen (0-3). Tyler Morrison had a hit and drove in a pair for the Commodores and Smith added an RBI double.

Freedom 13, Rochester 3 – Logan Bickerstaff and Tommy Ward had two RBIs apiece and Ryan Fessler singled and had four RBIs for Freedom (2-1) in a nonsection win over Rochester (0-1).

Hopewell 7, New Castle 6 – Kingston Krotec belted a walk-off two-run double as part of a three-run seventh inning for Hopewell (2-1) in a nonsection win. John Vescio singled three times for the Vikings. J.T. Warren hit a grand slam for New Castle (0-2).

Indiana 6, Beaver 0 – Mark Collinger went 3 for 3, Charlie Manzi hit a triple and Hunter Martin doubled and had two RBIs for Indiana (1-0) in a nonsection win over Beaver (0-2).

Kiski Area 10, Apollo-Ridge 0 – Austin Bachar threw four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and helped his cause with two hits and an RBI for Kiski Area (2-0) in a nonsection win. Nate Witt went 3 for 3 with a double and Blake Fritz tripled and drove in a pair for the Cavaliers. Zach Meyers and Anthony Gerardi had hits for Apollo-Ridge (0-2).

Knoch 10, Valley 1 – Kyle Morgan singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Braden Wozniak also had two RBIs for Knoch (1-0) in a nonsection victory. Winning pitcher Braden Kriley threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run and two hits. Dom Dunkel doubled for Valley (2-1).

Oakland Catholic 18, Yough 4 – Dierdre Doyle and Maggie Friday each collected three goals and two assists and Tilly Conner also scored three times to lead Oakland Catholic to a Section 1-2A win. Caroline Miller, Taylor Pauley and Gracie Hall each scored twice.

Pine-Richland 21, Hempfield 1 – Ashley Woodward had five goals for Pine-Richland in a nonsection victory over Hempfield. Cate Gentile and Bridget Gilardi recorded a hat trick for the Rams. Devan Bordonaro scored for the Spartans.

Boys volleyball

Derry 3, Forrest Hills 0 – Noah Berkhimer had eight kills, 22 assists and three blocks to lead Derry to a nonsection win. Cam McNichol and Mason Beeman each had 11 kills while Jon Shumaker and Duke Klapchar recorded seven digs apiece.
