Collin Barkley was 2 for 5 and hit the go-ahead two-run double in the ninth inning as Derry outlasted Freeport, 5-2, in extra innings to complete a Section 3-3A baseball sweep.
Cason Long was the winning pitcher for the Trojans (2-1, 2-0).
Malik Febinger and Michael Hanz collected two hits each for the Yellowjackets (0-3, 0-2).
Bishop Canevin 17, Sewickley Academy 2 – Jackson Maddix doubled and collected four RBIs, Quentin White doubled and knocked in three runs and winning pitcher Kyle Olszewski tripled in a pair of runs as Bishop Canevin (2-0, 2-0) blew out Sewickley Academy (0-2, 0-2) in Section 3-A. Cooper Wentz doubled for the Panthers.
Butler 7, Baldwin 0 – Boden Lenyk hit a two-run double, Liam McElroy doubled in a run and winning pitcher Nolan Stefaniak slapped a double as Butler (2-0) shut out Baldwin (0-3) in nonsection play.
California 13, Mapletown 3 – Spencer Petrucci drove in four runs, Niko Georgagis followed with three RBIs and Kris Weston was 4 for 4 with an RBI as California (2-2, 2-0) beat Mapletown (1-3, 0-2) in Section 1-A. A.J. Vanata drove in a run for the Maples. Logan Hartley added two RBIs for the Trojans.
Eden Christian 10, Clairton 0 – Noah Emswiler tripled and finished with three RBIs, Charlie Wolf doubled and drove in a run and Brady Hull got the win for Eden Christian (3-0, 2-0) in Section 3-A. Daevon Gaynor went 1 for 2 for Clairton (1-3, 0-2).
Franklin Regional 11, Penn Hills 0 – Winning pitcher Maxwell Bernadowski struck out nine and drove in three runs while N.J. Ramchandran had two RBIs to lead Franklin Regional (4-3, 2-0) to a Section 1-5A shutout win over Penn Hills (0-2, 0-2). Owen Sinclair doubled in a run and Brady Yarabinetz smacked a double for the Panthers
Frazier 4, Beth-Center 2 – Dalian McManus drove in a run and Brant Alekson got the win as Frazier (1-1, 1-1) had a combined no-hitter in a Section 1-2A win. Preston Bebout knocked in a run for Beth-Center (2-2, 1-1).
Greensburg Central Catholic 15, Ligonier Valley 2 – Ian Shipley homered, doubled and drove in five runs, Anthony Grippo homered and doubled, collecting four RBIs, and Sean Walker doubled twice and knocked in a run as Greensburg Central Catholic (3-1, 2-0) defeated Ligonier Valley (1-3, 0-2) in Section 3-2A. Winning pitcher Tyler Samide struck out 10, and Grant Miller doubled in a run for the Centurions.
Hempfield 15, Blackhawk 4 – Adam Hess, Carson Shuglie, Max Short and Chase Sikorski each had two RBIs and winning pitcher Dylan Firmstone hit a double as Hempfield (3-0) rolled to a nonsection win. Carter Davis had a two-run double for Blackhawk (0-1).
Hopewell 7, Keystone Oaks 0 – David Medich struck out 15 in a complete-game, one-hit shutout as Hopewell (3-1) defeated Keystone Oaks (0-3) in a nonsection win. John Vescio doubled and knocked in a pair of runs for the Vikings. Jake Laporte had the only hit for the Golden Eagles.
Jeannette 17, Woodland Hills 0 – Brayden Luttner doubled and drove in four runs, Kenny Himes added four RBIs and Nick Rattigan doubled in a run as Jeannette (2-0) scored 10 runs in the fifth and cruised to a nonsection win over Woodland Hills (0-2). Winning pitcher Wyatt Schaeffer struck out six in four innings for the Jayhawks.
Kiski Area 8, Gateway 7 (9 inn.) – Dimitri Spagnola tripled, Tylar Hanley doubled and Jake Smith went 3 for 4 with an RBI as Kiski Area (2-1) scored on an error in the top of the ninth to beat Gateway (0-3) in a nonsection contest. Noah Colberg doubled in a pair of runs for the Gators.
Mars 5, Knoch 1 – Winning pitcher Charles Bickel drove in four runs and Shane Klinefleter was 2 for 2 with an RBI to lead Mars (1-0) past Knoch (1-2) in nonsection play. Braden Wozniak tripled and Aidan Jones doubled for the Knights.
McGuffey 9, Southmoreland 5 – Mason Piatt doubled and drove in three runs for McGuffey (2-1, 2-0) in a Section 4-3A win over Southmoreland (0-4, 0-2). Cameron Dames and Samuel Stout had a double and a pair of RBIs each for the Highlanders. Ty Keffer singled, doubled and had an RBI for the Scotties and Cole Teets singled three times.
Mt. Lebanon 1, Seneca Valley 0 – Nolan Smith went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Graham Keen pitched Mt. Lebanon (2-1) to a nonsection win over Seneca Valley (0-1). Ryan Piekutoski tripled for the Raiders.
Norwin 13, Connellsville 2 – Norwin belted 16 hits en route to a nonsection victory in five innings. Benjamin Geissler, Keegan Carr, Matthew O’Neil, Nate Siberman, Ty Cupp and Nolan Ryan collected two hits each for the Knights (2-0). Matthew Firestone had a two-run single for Connellsville (1-3).
Pine-Richland 5, North Catholic 2 – Anthony Mengine knocked in two runs, Jake Waddell was 2 for 3 and Drew Boivin picked up the win as Nathan Kush got the save for Pine-Richland (3-1) in nonsection play. Tommy Koroly doubled in a run for North Catholic (0-1).
Plum 6, Armstrong 5 – Colin Watson, Ryan Lafferty and Jack Anderson had three hits apiece to lead Plum (4-1, 2-0) past Armstrong (1-2, 0-2) in Section 1-5A. Watson and Lafferty hit a pair of doubles. Anderson and Lafferty had a pair of RBIs. Mason Schrecengost hit a solo homer for the River Hawks.
Ringgold 8, Trinity 7 (8 inn.) – Demetri Lowe went 3 for 5, including a walk-off two-run single, to lift Ringgold (2-1) to a nonsection win. Alex Kolano doubled and had two RBIs while Eddie Frizzell got the win for the Rams. Matthew Robaugh hit a solo home run and Gibson Havanis hit a pair of doubles for Trinity (1-1).
Shady Side Academy 10, Deer Lakes 1 – Brady Trischler pitched a one-hitter and Soren Cooper homered and drove in three runs to pace Shady Side Academy (1-0, 1-0) in a Section 3-3A victory. Josh Valinsky and Matt Long singled and doubled. Valinsky had three RBIs, while Long had two. Ryan Cochran singled for Deer Lakes (2-1, 0-1).
Union 5, Rochester 1 – Dayne Johnke got the win as Dennen Bowen drove in a run and Rocco Galmarini doubled for Union (2-0, 2-0) in a Section 2-A victory over Rochester (0-3, 0-2).

Armstrong 12, Freeport 0 – Isabel Prazenica hit two doubles and Shelby Cloak hit a two-run homer for Armstrong (2-0) in a nonsection win. Abby DeJidas, Megan Grolemund and Kelly Schmidt hit a single apiece for Freeport (2-1). Jessica Pugh, Emma Paul, Natalie Ziegler and Jordyn Klingensmith also hit a double apiece for the River Hawks.
Butler 6, Norwin 1 – Shylee Karenbauer went 3 for 3 with a triple and Lily Vicari doubled and had two RBIs to lead Butler (2-1, 1-1) to a Section 1-6A win. Josey Michalski hit a home run for Norwin (2-2, 1-1).
Connellsville 5, Latrobe 4 – Kira Jansen scored the winning run for Connellsville (4-1) in a nonsection win. Sarah Blossey hit a two-run homer for Latrobe (1-2). Cali Leichliter hit a home run and Tagan Basinger doubled for the Falcons.
Deer Lakes 7, Kiski Area 0 – Maddie Kee went 3 for 4 with a double and had five RBIs for Deer Lakes (2-1) in a nonsection win over Kiski Area (0-3).
Derry 7, Apollo-Ridge 4 – Callie Crause hit a double and Maizie Legge had two RBIs for Derry (1-2) in a nonsection win. Jocelyn Snyder doubled for Apollo-Ridge (0-2).
Hempfield 8, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Lauren Howard went 3 for 4 and had two RBIs and Claire Mitchell tripled and drove in two runs for Hempfield (2-0, 2-0) in a Section 1-6A win. Sarah Stroh doubled for Mt. Lebanon (0-3, 0-1).
Knoch 11, Mars 6 – Brynne Smith, Kaila Purcell and McKenna Brailey hit a double apiece for Knoch (1-2) in a nonsection win. Laura Craska hit two doubles and Marlee Fraser went 4 for 5 with four RBIs for Mars (1-4).
Leechburg 22, St. Joseph 7 – Grace Richards hit a triple and Ava Richards and Danica Sopcak hit a double apiece for Leechburg (2-1, 1-0) in a Section 3-A win. Maria Kuhns and Anna Kreinbrook had two RBIs apiece for St. Joseph (0-1, 0-1).
Ligonier Valley 3, Burrell 1 – Natalie Bizup went 3 for 3 and Sydnee Foust tripled to lead Ligonier Valley (3-0) to a nonsection win. Braelyn Jones doubled for Burrell (1-2). Cheyenne Piper struck out 16 for the Rams.
McKeesport 10, Steel Valley 1 – Kendal Bercik had three doubles and four RBIs and Ryenn Thomas doubled for McKeesport (3-1) in a nonsection win. Abby Curran hit a double for Steel Valley (1-2).
Mohawk 7, Sharpsville 2 – Alivia Hare hit a triple and Addy Moskal and Aricka Young hit a double apiece for Mohawk (2-0) in a nonsection win over Sharpsville.
North Catholic 10, Montour 9 – Clare Kotwica hit a home run and Natalie Rushak hit a RBI double for North Catholic (4-0, 1-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Shania Cope and Hailey Staub hit a home run apiece for Montour (0-1, 0-1).
Plum 8, Franklin Regional 2 – Jaiden Gentile hit a double and triple and Danielle Pici, Liana Yusko and Riley Stephens hit a double apiece to lead Plum (2-1) to a nonsection win. Toryn Fulton went 3 for 3 with a double for Franklin Regional (2-3).
Rochester 12, Carlynton 6 – Madi Henry hit two doubles, Hannah Pittman doubled and Emily Weese had four RBIs to lead Rochester (2-1, 1-0) to a Section 1-A win. Carlee Hughes doubled and had two RBIs for Carlynton (0-2, 0-1).
Southmoreland 15, Valley 0 – Amarah McCutcheon went 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs, Mikaela homered and Brooke McBeth hit a double to lead Southmoreland (5-0) to a nonsection win. Jessica Staraniec singled for Valley (0-4).
Thomas Jefferson 7, West Mifflin 3 – Taylor Karpac hit three doubles and Zoe Krizan doubled and had two RBIs to lead Thomas Jefferson (1-2) to a nonsection win. Taylor Krivanek doubled for West Mifflin (2-2).
Uniontown 4, Albert Gallatin 1 – Ava Livingood went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs to lead Uniontown (1-0, 1-0) to a Section 2-4A win. Mya Glisan and Mia Myers hit a double apiece for Albert Gallatin (0-2, 0-1).
Girls lacrosse
North Hills 21, Freeport 3 – Hailey Coyne had eight goals and Abigail Krogmann scored seven to lead North Hills past Freeport in Section 2-3A. Madeleine Korbel added a hat trick for the Indians.
Norwin 16, Hempfield 0 – Gia Fernandez and Ava Wilson scored four goals apiece to lead Norwin to a Section 1-3A win over Hempfield.
