Freshman J.J. Mancuso homered in his first varsity at-bat, hitting a two-run shot to lead North Allegheny to a 5-4 victory over Norwin in nonsection baseball Thursday.

August Maslo drove in two runs and J.D. Costanzo picked up the win for the Tigers (3-0). Keegan Carr knocked in two runs for the Knights (2-1).

Avella 2, West Greene 1 – Isaiah Bradick went 2 for 3 with an RBI and was the winning pitcher and Brian Martos singled, doubled, drove in a run and earned the save for Avella (3-0) in a nonsection win. Morgan Kiger and Darren Knight doubled for West Greene (0-2).

Baldwin 12, Gateway 1 – Trey Alario homered and finished with four RBIs, Matt Nowicki knocked in three runs, Adam Ledbetter tripled and drove in two runs, and James Naret and Evan Golvash each had an RBI as Baldwin (1-3) coasted to a nonsection win. Grady Dunsmore drove in the only run for Gateway (0-4).

Beaver 15, Freedom 0 – Maddox Tanner singled, doubled and drove in two runs to lead Beaver (2-2) to a nonsection win over Freedom (2-3). Brady Mayo doubled and knocked in a pair of runs and Ty Butler had two hits and two RBIs for the Bobcats.

Belle Vernon 6, California 4 – Cole Matusik hit a two-run double, Connor Bergman drove in a pair of runs, and Austin Hoffman doubled in a run as Belle Vernon (3-1) survived a three-run, seventh-inning rally by California (2-3) for a nonsection win. Kris Weston tripled, doubled and drove in a run for the Trojans.

Burrell 10, Valley 8 – Dylan McKallip delivered a two-run single in the eighth inning to give Burrell (1-2, 1-1) a Section 3-3A win. Ryan Bates and Mike McKay each collected two hits and two RBIs for the Bucs. Nikolas Heakins drove in two runs and Jacob Staraniec doubled and drove in a run for Valley (3-2, 1-1).

Carlynton 17, Monessen 10 – Eric Firle and Sean Hart each doubled and drove in two runs and Mason Mulligan was 3 for 5 with two RBIs to lead Carlynton (4-1, 2-0) in a high-scoring Section 2-A affair. Eli Covington doubled twice, tripled and knocked in two runs and R.J. DiEugenio tripled and had two RBIs for Monessen (0-4, 0-2).

Carmichaels 10, Jefferson-Morgan 1 – Aydan Adamson and Colin Andrews each doubled and drove in a pair of runs, Dominic Colarusso hit an RBI double and Mason Lapana collected three RBIs in a Section 1-A win for Carmichaels (3-0, 2-0). Deakyn Dehoet and Jaymison Robinson each doubled for Jefferson-Morgan (2-2, 0-2).

Central Valley 8, Neshannock 3 – Winning pitcher Zachary McLean fanned 10, Nathan Angelo and Jadon Balewski each had two RBIs, and Jacob Hunter doubled and drove in a run for Central Valley (1-3) in nonsection play. Dom Cubellis doubled and knocked in a run for Neshannock (1-2).

Connellsville 17, Albert Gallatin 2 – Ethan Shultz homered and drove in four runs, Grayden Gillott was 3 for 5 with two RBIs, and Jake Lee and Kace Shearer each doubled and drove in a run for Connellsville (2-3) in a nonsection win. Cyrus Potkul hit a solo home run for Albert Gallatin (0-3).

East Allegheny 4, Jeannette 0 – Ryan Rupert drove in a pair of runs and Joe Connors and Traynor Janosko each doubled and drove in a run for East Allegheny (3-0) in a nonsection shutout win. Amari Thomas went 2 for 3 for Jeannette (2-1).

Elizabeth Forward 7, Peters Township 6 – Aidan Grimes walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to plate the winning run as Elizabeth Forward (3-0) won a nonsection game. Winning pitcher Jacob Peterson had three hits for the Warriors. Michael Alspaugh homered and Reese Clarke singled, doubled and drove in a run for Peters Township (2-3).

Fort Cherry 7, Chartiers-Houston 5 – Matt Sieg homered and knocked in three runs and Ryan Huey hit a solo home run for Fort Cherry (2-0) in a nonsection win. Luke Camden doubled and drove in a run for Chartiers-Houston (0-3). Blake Sweder got the win and Sieg picked up the save for the Rangers.

Frazier 6, Mapletown 2 – Aiden Hardy knocked in two runs, Tyler Monack doubled and drove in another, and Chase Smith picked up the win for Frazier (2-1) in nonsection play. A.J. Vanata doubled twice and drove in a run for Mapletown (1-4).

Hempfield 9, Latrobe 6 – Caden Biondi and Parker Donsen each doubled and drove in a run while Ethan Minerva, Max Short and Colin Polechko also had RBIs to lead Hempfield (4-0) to a nonsection win. Mason Leonard drove in a pair of runs and Luke Nipar-Smith doubled and added an RBI for Latrobe (3-1).

Highlands 11, Laurel Highlands 6 – Winning pitcher Luke Bombalski homered and drove in three runs and Carson McGraw, Boyd Brown and Sal Barbarino knocked in two runs apiece for Highlands (1-3) in a nonsection win. Shane Layton doubled and drove in a run for Laurel Highlands (0-3).

Indiana 8, DuBois 7 – Trevor Smith hit a walk-off two-run single as Indiana (2-1) rallied for five runs in the seventh to beat DuBois in nonsection action. Andrew McGee went 3 for 4 with a double and Tristan Redinger was 2 for 2 with a double for the Little Indians. Trey Wingard was 3 for 4 for DuBois.

Kiski Area 12, Hopewell 3 – Jake Smith homered, tripled and brought in three runs, Blake Fritz doubled twice and finished with two RBIs, and Jonathan Walker got the win for Kiski Area (3-1) in nonsection play against Hopewell (3-2).

Laurel 18, South Side 9 – Kolton Carlson went 4 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs, Tyler Shearer drove in three runs, Hunter Kobialka knocked in a pair, and Luca Santini was 3 for 6 with an RBI as Laurel (2-0, 2-0) doubled up South Side (1-2, 0-2) in Section 2-2A. Jake Zeigler had three RBIs and Casey Lewis and Carter Wilson each doubled and drove in two runs for the Rams.

Mars 6, Butler 5 – Down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Jacob Maple smacked a two-run walk-off single to lift Mars (2-0) over Butler (2-1) in nonsection play. Boden Lenyk was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Noah Collins doubled for the Golden Tornado. Grady Speigle got the win for the Fightin’ Planets.

Mohawk 6, Quaker Valley 3 – Keigan Hopper clubbed a three-run double, Jay Wrona doubled and drove in two, and Vinny Pezzuolo knocked in a run for Mohawk (2-1, 2-0) in a Section 1-3A win over Quaker Valley (1-3, 0-2). Jasper Gray had two RBIs for the Quakers.

Montour 12, Eden Christian 2 – Michael Ivanoff went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs while Joshua Peremba and Jake Robinson each smacked a double for Montour (3-1) in a nonsection win. Josh Tilden knocked in a run for Eden Christian (3-1).

Morgantown (WV) 7, Uniontown 4 – Samuel Watson tripled and brought in three runs and Koa Silvers doubled and drove in a run as Morgantown defeated Uniontown (1-2) in nonsection action. Brayden Hinzy, Tyler Gasper and Tate Musko each doubled for the Red Raiders.

Mt. Pleasant 11, Ringgold 5 – Cole Chatfield went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Dane Firmstone also drove in two runs to boost Mt. Pleasant (2-3) in a nonsection win. Alex Kolano had three hits for Ringgold (2-2).

Pine-Richland 9, Canon-McMillan 4 – Benjamin Husted collected three RBIs and Peyton Ford hit two doubles and drove in a run for Pine-Richland (4-1) in a nonsection win. Will Taczak and Sam Meredith each had two hits for Canon-Mac (0-2).

Poland Seminary (OH) 5, New Castle 0 – Winning pitcher Jacob Hayes helped his cause with a single and an RBI to lead Poland Seminary (Ohio). Dominic Miller had the only hit for New Castle (0-4).

Riverside 12, Ellwood City 2 – Christian Lucarelli homered and drove in four runs, Darre McDade hit a two-run home run and Bo Fornataro drove in a pair of runs to lead Riverside (3-0, 2-0) to a Section 1-3A win. Zack Hare struck out 12 for the Panthers. Joe Roth drove in a couple of runs for Ellwood City (2-2, 0-2).

Riverview 2, Brentwood 1 – Jack Loughren hit a walk-off single and finished the day 3 for 4 to lift Riverview (4-0, 2-0) past Brentwood (1-2, 0-2) in Section 3-2A. Johnny Bertucci doubled and drove in a run for the Raiders. Zach Wuenschell doubled for the Spartans.

Seneca Valley 7, Plum 2 – Mike Delduca tripled and Nick Parrotto got the win as Seneca Valley (1-1) beat Plum (4-2) in nonsection play. Jack Anderson tripled and Dom Beyer doubled for the Mustangs.

Shady Side Academy 4, Deer Lakes 3 – Jonah Sackrowitz hit the game-winning single in the eighth inning while Caden Green and winning pitcher David Dillon each doubled and drove in a run as Shady Side Academy (2-0, 2-0) edged Deer Lakes (2-2, 0-2) in Section 3-3A. Anthony Smith drove in a run for the Lancers.

Shenango 16, Beaver Falls 1 – Tyler Houk was 3 for 3 with five RBIs, Christian Anterock knocked in three, and Jimmy Roe drove in a pair as Shenango (3-1, 2-0) rolled to a Section 1-3A win. Christian Petronick had a base hit for Beaver Falls (0-2, 0-2).

Steel Valley 14, McKeesport 3 – Winning pitcher Cooper Phares struck out nine, Logan Thomas doubled and drove in four, and Eli Brugos collected three RBIs as Steel Valley (1-2) beat McKeesport (0-2) in nonsection play. Brady Boyle was 2 for 2 for the Tigers.

Washington 12, Bentworth 9 – William Callan went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and picked up the save and winning pitcher Ian Callan doubled as Washington (3-1, 2-0) defeated Bentworth (0-3, 0-2) in Section 1-2A. Lucas Burt knocked in a pair of runs for the Bearcats.

Waynesburg 10, Beth-Center 0 – Kory Taylor, Tyler Groves and Derek Turcheck each drove in two runs, Ethan Kiger doubled in a run, and Austin Surber tripled as Waynesburg (3-0) shut out Beth-Center (3-3) in nonsection play. Luke Amon had the only hit for the Bulldogs.

West Shamokin 11, Leechburg 0 – Winning pitcher Max Long smacked a two-run double and Jude Olinger doubled and drove in a run to lead West Shamokin to a nonsection win. Jayden Floyd was 1 for 3 for Leechburg (1-1).

Yough 13, Brownsville 3 – Nate Bell went 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs to lead Yough (2-3, 2-0) past Brownsville (0-2, 0-2) in Section 4-3A. John Steban singled, doubled and drove in three runs for the Cougars.

Elizabeth Forward 15, Laurel Highlands 0 – Alivia Grimm, Hannah Evans and Shelby Telegdy each hit a double and Julia Resnik tripled for Elizabeth Forward (3-0, 1-0) in a Section 2-4A win. Kayla Howell singled for Laurel Highlands (0-2, 0-1).

Ellwood City 19, Riverside 4 – Keira Rozanski singled, homered and drove in four runs and Sara Schwartz had two doubles for Ellwood City (4-0) in a nonsection win. Dakota Hicks singled and tripled and Kaylee Palombi also tripled for the Wolverines. Mia Williams singled, drove in a run and scored twice for Riverside (0-1).

Franklin Regional 10, Mars 9 – CC Copeland hit the game-winning single in the seventh for Franklin Regional (3-3) in a nonsection victory. Greensburg Salem 5, Derry 2 – Gionnah Ruffner had a double, home run and four RBIs and Alle Scarpa struck out 14 to lead Greensburg Salem (2-3) to a nonsection win. Sophia Doherty and Francesca DePalma hit a double apiece for Derry (1-3).

Jeannette 10, Springdale 0 – Grace Stein threw a five-inning no hitter and struck out 11 to lead Jeannette (2-0, 1-0) to a Section 3-A win over Springdale (0-1, 0-1). Mia Sarpolis tripled and Abigail Shaw hit a double for the Jayhawks.

Shaler 10, Bethel Park 0 – Bria Bosijevac hit a home run and threw a five inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Shaler (3-0) past Bethel Park (2-3) in a nonsection win. Jayla Antomachi and Taylor London also homered for the Titans.

South Park 8, Upper St. Clair 2 – Jacie Hilligsburg hit a double and Sydney Sekely and Reese Katich had two hits apiece for South Park (2-1) in a nonsection win. Rachel Scharrer hit a home run for Upper St. Clair (2-3).

Thomas Jefferson 12, Chartiers-Houston 3 – Emma DeSimone had three RBIs and Liv Stock, Morgan Alisesky and Aubrey Shaffer drove in two runs apiece to lead Thomas Jefferson (2-2) to a nonsection win. Lauren Rush hit a home run for Chartiers-Houston (2-1).

West Mifflin 12, Uniontown 3 – Mia Bey went 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs and Aubrey Jaskulski hit two doubles to lead West Mifflin (3-2) to a nonsection win. Graci Rodeheaver and Lauren White each hit a double for Uniontown (0-2).

Boys volleyball

Hempfield 3, Latrobe 1 – Drew Gordon had 14 kills to lead Hempfield to a nonsection win over Latrobe. Josh Reilly added nine kills, and Dom Palmiero and Gunner Wheaton each recorded five blocks.

Moon 3, Trinity 1 – Logan Anderson-Stewart had seven aces and 31 assists, Casey Sunday had 11 kills and 11 digs, and Charlie Basil followed with 10 kills as Moon (2-1) beat Trinity (2-3) in nonsection play.

Girls lacrosse

Plum 17, Baldwin 2 – Ella Pedley scored four goals and Sophie Anderson, Bella DiFrancesca and Rayla Smith each had three to lead Plum to a nonsection win.
