Penn-Trafford notebook: Football hall of fame class announced

The 2024 Penn-Trafford Warrior Football Hall of Fame Class was announced and it features five former players, a coach, team and contributor.
Being honored are players Devin Austin (2015), Luke Graham (2010), Jerry Lavelle (1983), Kirk Rogers (2001) and Mike Simpson (2000).
The coach being inducted is Dan Tarabrella.
The team is the 1961 Penn Joint Indians while the Sam DeNillo Sr. Contributor Award will be given to Frank Wall.
The inductions will take place Sept. 6 when the Warriors play host to Moon.
Spikers place third
The Penn-Trafford boys volleyball team placed third at the Derry Area Invitational on April 6.
The Warriors went 10-2, losing to North Allegheny in the semifinals and Mars. The Warriors defeated Obama Academy in the quarterfinals.
Penn-Trafford is 3-0 in section action after defeating Penn Hills, 3-0. Nathaniel Rugh had 32 assists against Penn Hills.
Netters even record
Penn-Trafford (3-3) got singles wins from Nick Turowski and Brian Broadwater and rolled to a 4-1 win against Hempfield.
The doubles teams of Luke Fox and Evan Sadler and Santino Premozic and Nino Sunseri clinched the victory.
Three of Penn-Trafford’s wins went three sets.
Warriors sweep Plum
Ian Temple drove in the winning run and Hunter Brown pitched three scoreless innings as the Warriors defeated Plum, 3-2, on April 8.
Ethan Septak drove in four runs and Brayden Stone two in an 8-0 win on April 9. The Warriors (7-1, 5-1) got a win from pitcher Dom Delio.
Ponko doubles up
Cam Ponko hit two home runs — a grand slam and three-run blast — to lead Penn-Trafford past Franklin Regional, 14-1. Both home runs came in the third inning.
Erin Drotos also homered for the Warriors (4-2, 2-0). Giuliana Youngo, Allison Pokrant and Lorryn Sepe hit doubles in the win.
