Teddy Burke homered, doubled and had three RBIs as Canon-McMillan won 12-2 in Section 2-6A baseball Tuesday to hand Hempfield its first loss of the season.

Cam Russell doubled, singled and drove in four runs and Sebastian Shulsky struck out five in six innings for the Big Macs (4-6, 4-4). Dylan Firmstone doubled for the Spartans (11-1, 7-1).

Avella 14, Fort Cherry 8 – Charles Rush drove in four runs, Isaiah Bradick collected two hits and three RBIs, and Westley Burchianti doubled in a run to lead Avella (6-1, 5-1) past Fort Cherry (5-1, 3-1) in Section 1-A. Ryan Huey hit a solo home run and Landon Trnavsky had a pair of RBIs for the Rangers.

Beaver 9, Central Valley 6 – Maddox Tanner doubled in a pair of runs, David Corob finished with two RBIs and Ty Butler doubled and drove in a run to lead Beaver (5-6, 1-5) to a Section 1-4A win. Skylar Welling collected two hits and two RBIs for Central Valley (5-4, 4-1). Tyler Kisling got the win for the Bobcats.

Belle Vernon 8, Laurel Highlands 0 – Colton Lee struck out 11 in five scoreless innings, Carson Matusik singled and doubled, and Lucas Judy had two hits and two RBIs to lead Belle Vernon (7-1, 4-0) past Laurel Highlands (0-8, 0-5) in Section 2-4A.

Burgettstown 8, Beth-Center 7 – Winning pitcher Matt Bredel went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and hit a walk-off single to lift Burgettstown (3-2-1, 3-0) past Beth-Center (4-6, 2-5) in Section 1-2A. Brodie Kuzior homered and drove in three for the Blue Devils. Jacob Nopwaskey tripled and knocked in two for the Bulldogs.

Carlynton 9, Clairton 0 – Jake Moldovan knocked in a pair of runs, Sean Hart doubled in a run and Graydon Harvey pitched Carlynton (8-4, 6-2) to a Section 3-A win. Mike Wright tripled for the only Clairton (1-5, 0-4) hit.

Carmichaels 12, California 4 – Liam Lohr went 3 for 4 with a homer, a double and three RBIs and Mason Lapana slugged a three-run homer as Carmichaels (6-0, 4-0) rolled to a Section 1-A win. Logan Hartley doubled and singled for California (2-7, 2-4). Nathan Beringo got the win for the Mighty Mikes.

Central Catholic 13, Baldwin 9 – C.J. Proch doubled twice, belted a home run and drove in five runs, Adam Sarkis hit a three-run homer, and Chase Gelpi smashed a two-run homer as Central Catholic (6-6, 3-5) slugged its way to a Section 2-6A win. Adam Ledbetter went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for Baldwin (1-10, 0-7). Joshua McFadden got the win for the Vikings.

Charleroi 4, Washington 3 – Winning pitcher Brock Henderson hit the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to give Charleroi (6-3, 4-2) a Section 1-2A win over Washington (4-4, 3-3). Tyler O’Neil added a double and Logan Usher got the save for the Cougars.

Chartiers-Houston 16, Bentworth 5 – Luke Camden went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Keegan Kosek hit two doubles and drove in three runs, and Nico Filosi doubled for Chartiers-Houston (4-3, 4-0) in a Section 1-2A win. Ben Hays hit two doubles for Bentworth (0-7, 0-6).

Chartiers Valley 10, McKeesport 0 – Jared Pryor doubled, singled and knocked in three runs, Jules Prozzloy doubled and drove in two runs, and Colton Koza picked up the win for Chartiers Valley (4-2, 2-2) in a Section 3-4A victory over McKeesport (0-8, 0-5).

Deer Lakes 9, Derry 2 – In Section 3-3A, Eli Misera slugged a two-run double and winning pitcher Lucas Derose singled and drove in a pair to lead Deer Lakes (4-5, 2-5) to a win. Cason Long went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Derry (2-3, 2-2).

East Allegheny 1, Burrell 0; Burrell 4, East Allegheny 2 Burrell (4-5, 4-4) and East Allegheny (5-1, 3-1) split a doubleheader in Section 3-3A. In the first game, Ryan Rupert had two hits and drove in the only run while Joe Connors got the win and Michael Cahill picked up the save for East Allegheny. In the second game, Ryan Bates went 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBIs, Brayden Mell picked up the win, and A.J. McClafferty notched a save for Burrell.

Eden Christian 11, Sewickley Academy 0 – Brady Hull went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Jacob Janicki drove in a pair as Eden Christian (9-1, 8-0) shut out Sewickley Academy (2-6, 2-4) in Section 3-A. Noah Emswiler got the win for the Warriors.

Freedom 21, Aliquippa 0; Freedom 10, Aliquippa 0 Freedom (6-3, 4-1) swept a Section 2-2A doubleheader from Aliquippa (0-5, 0-5). In the first game, Cody Patterson and Mason O’Donnell each drove in four runs and Boden Hilliard picked up the win. In the second game, Boden Hilliard doubled and drove in two while Garrett Drutarosky and Tommy Ward each doubled for Freedom.

Freeport 3, Valley 1 – Luke Whitfield drove in two runs and Robert Schreckengost brought home another run as Freeport (3-5, 3-4) defeated Valley (5-4, 3-3) in Section 3-3A. Nikolas Heakins, Tyler Danko and Conrad Hoover each had a hit for the Vikings. Jeffrey Coller got the win for the Yellowjackets.

Gateway 11, Armstrong 1 – Lucas Demchak went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs and Noah Colberg hit two singles for Gateway (1-8, 1-4) in a Section 1-5A win. Rory Pschirer singled and drove in the lone run for Armstrong (4-5, 3-5).

Greensburg Central Catholic 14, Brentwood 4 – Tyree Turner had two hits and four RBIs and winning pitcher Grant Miller had two doubles to lead Greensburg Central Catholic (5-1, 4-0) past Brentwood (1-6, 0-6) in five innings in Section 3-2A. Ian Shipley, Anthony Grippo and Jackson McMullen each had two hits for the Centurions.

Indiana 7, Hampton 1 – Ben Ryan hit a two-run home run and Mark Collinger hit a double for Indiana (6-2, 4-1) in a Section 4-4A win. Matthew Erka went 3 for 3 with a double for Hampton (4-4, 2-4).

Jeannette 11, Apollo-Ridge 3 – Nick Rattigan doubled and Michael Mason drove in three runs to lead Jeannette (6-1, 4-0) to a Section 3-2A win. Alexander Clawson hit a double for Apollo-Ridge (0-8, 0-7).

Kiski Area 10, Highlands 3 – Winning pitcher Dominick Hand went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead Kiski Area (6-4, 3-3) to a Section 4-4A win. Blake Fritz singled and tripled and Jake Smith had a triple and two RBIs for the Cavaliers. Luke Bombalski had a single and double for Highlands (2-8, 1-4).

Latrobe 10, Albert Gallatin 0 – Luke Nipar-Smith threw five shutout innings and had two hits and two RBIs to lead Latrobe (8-1, 5-0) to a Section 2-4A win. Cooper Basciano also had two hits and two RBIs for the Wildcats. Cyrus Potkul doubled for Albert Gallatin (2-7, 2-2).

Leechburg 17, St. Joseph 2 – Winning pitcher Jayden Floyd went 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, Jaxson Vargo also knocked in three runs, and Jake Cummings singled home a pair as Leechburg (4-4, 3-2) beat St. Joseph (1-5, 1-3) in Section 2-A.

Mapletown 10, Frazier 0 – Daniel Fox and Ashton Nesselroad each drove in a pair of runs while A.J. Vanata tossed 4⅓ shutout innings for Mapletown (2-6, 0-4) in a Section 1-A win over Frazier (4-5, 2-2).

Mars 15, New Castle 2 – Charles Bickel went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and Finn Seideneck doubled and drove in three runs to lead Mars (6-2, 4-2) to a Section 3-5A win. Dominic Miller singled in a run for New Castle (0-11, 0-7). Roman Brunsell pitched the Fightin’ Planets to the win.

McGuffey 10, Greensburg Salem 1 – Cameron Dames got McGuffey (3-3, 3-2) off on the right foot with an inside-the-park home run in the first inning as the Highlanders rolled to a Section 4-3A win over Greensburg Salem (5-4, 4-3). Samuel Stout doubled and Brogan Meighen got the win for McGuffey.

Mohawk 5, Ellwood City 4 – Jay Wrona hit a game-tying double in the bottom of the seventh and Aidan Bowser walked it off with a bases loaded free pass to lead Mohawk (8-1, 6-0) past Ellwood City (3-6, 1-6) in Section 1-3A. Isaiah Lutz tripled for the Wolverines. Jackson Chapman got the win for the Warriors.

Montour 8, Hopewell 1 – Michael Ivanoff singled and drove in two runs and winning pitcher Jake Robinson struck out nine while tripling and driving in a run as Montour (9-1, 6-0) bested Hopewell (6-5, 3-3) in Section 1-4A.

Mt. Lebanon 3, Norwin 2 – Nolan Smith gave up one run on four hits in six innings and Graham Keen doubled to help Mt. Lebanon (9-3, 6-2) to a Section 2-6A win. Nolan Ryan drove in two runs for Norwin (5-6, 3-4).

Mt. Pleasant 10, Brownsville 0 – Winning pitcher Connor Drzal collected three hits and four RBIs and Cole Chatfield knocked in two runs to lead Mt. Pleasant (6-4, 4-1) to a Section 4-3A win against Brownsville (0-7, 0-7).

Neshannock 13, Beaver Falls 0 – Michael Memo doubled and drove in three, Dom Cubellis doubled and brought home two, and Jackson Biondi singled and knocked home two runs as Neshannock (4-4, 3-2) blanked Beaver Falls (0-6, 0-6) in Section 1-3A. Jake Rynd got the win for the Lancers.

New Brighton 19, Northgate 2 – In Section 2-2A, Brock Budacki was the catalyst for New Brighton (4-3, 2-3), hitting for the cycle and driving in seven runs while Vernon Krepps picked up the win over Northgate (0-7, 0-4). Jaxson Zahn, Seth Mendenhall and Donavin Boone each doubled for the Lions.

North Allegheny 13, Allderdice 1 – Andrew Dixon doubled and knocked in three runs, August Maslo doubled and drove in two, Miles Pealer had a double and an RBi, and Micolas Varlotta brought home a run with a triple as North Allegheny (8-0, 5-0) defeated Allderdice (1-7, 0-6) in Section 1-6A. Cole Suba picked up the win for the Tigers.

North Catholic 4, Knoch 1 – Blake Primrose doubled, homered and drove in three runs to lead North Catholic (5-2, 5-1) in Section 4-4A. Aidan Jones drove in a run for Knoch (2-6, 1-4).

North Hills 4, Moon 1 – Tristan Weimann went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Austin Hagerman doubled while winning pitcher Ben Barr struck out 11 to lead North Hills (7-2-1, 5-1) to a Section 3-5A victory over Moon (3-7, 1-5).

OLSH 10, South Side 3 – Winning pitcher Vann Kavals went 2 for 3 with three RBIs to boost OLSH (6-4, 5-1) to a Section 2-2A win. Ryder Goe went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI for South Side (4-4, 3-4).

Plum 14, Penn Hills 3 – Jack Anderson doubled twice and knocked in four runs while Ryan Lafferty and Matt Glasspool each drove in two runs as Plum (6-4, 4-2) exploded for a 10-run fifth to beat Penn Hills (0-8, 0-8) in Section 1-5A. Logan Bollinger hit a two-run single for the Indians. Erik Streussnig got the win for the Mustangs.

Rochester 11, Springdale 6 – Jett Williams had three hits and Logan Lyons and Cole Poplin each drove in two runs to lead Rochester (2-5, 2-4) to a Section 2-A win. Luke Bramson had two hits for Springdale (2-2, 2-1).

Serra Catholic 12, Ligonier Valley 3 – Collin Holmes went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead Serra Catholic (9-0, 6-0) in Section 3-2A. Carmen Chiaverini had three hits and three RBIs and Owen Dumbrosky also had three hits for the Eagles. Tyler Smith had two RBIs and Leo Bazala two hits for Ligonier Valley (3-5, 2-4).

Seton LaSalle 7, Laurel 2 – Aric White doubles and Gio LoNero and Josh Burkholder had two hits apiece to lead Seton LaSalle (7-1, 6-0) to a Section 2-2A win over Laurel (3-4, 2-4).

Shenango 21, Quaker Valley 12 – Grayson Hooks went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, Benny Santangelo also brought home three runs, and Jason Malley drove in a pair as Shenango (5-4, 4-2) beat Quaker Valley (3-6, 2-5) in Section 1-3A. Nolan Wagoner picked up two hits and two RBIs for the Quakers. Jimmy Roe got the win for the Wildcats.

South Allegheny 3, Avonworth 2 – Ryan Cortes hit a walk-off single in the eighth to lift South Allegheny (8-2, 3-1) past Avonworth (6-6, 2-2) in Section 2-3A. Trenton Popovich went 3 for 3 with a solo home run, Jaxson Champ doubled in a run and winning pitcher Dillion Pomocki doubled for the Gladiators.

South Fayette 2, Connellsville 0 – Chaz Kosko drove in a run and Tyler Skeen went 2 for 3 as Ethan Rose pitched South Fayette (5-2, 4-2) to a Section 2-5A victory. Mason Miller suffered the loss for Connellsville (5-6, 3-3).

South Park 17, Keystone Oaks 2 – Zach Ludwig homered, singled and drove in four runs and A.C. Miller went 2 for 3 with three RBIs as South Park (5-3, 3-1) cruised to a Section 2-3A win against Keystone Oaks (4-5, 4-2). Dan Pepke got the win for the Eagles.

Thomas Jefferson 10, Elizabeth Forward 0 – Brady Hodge tripled, doubled and brought home three runs, Noah Kaszer went 3 for 3 with a double and a pair of RBIs and Alec Warden tripled in a run as Thomas Jefferson (11-0, 5-0) shut out Elizabeth Forward (5-4, 2-4) in Section 3-4A. Elias Lippincott was on the mound for the win for the Jaguars.

Uniontown 2, Ringgold 1 – Cameron Jackson hit a walk off single to lead Uniontown (2-5, 1-3) to a Section 2-4A win. Austin Grego struck out 14 batters for the Red Raiders. Eddie Frizzell doubled for Ringgold (3-5, 1-3).

Upper St. Clair 5, Trinity 4 – Nick D’Orazio went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, including a sac fly in the sixth to give Upper St. Clair (4-7, 2-4) the winning run in a Section 2-5A matchup. Luke Lacock went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Trinity (4-4, 3-3). Nathan Wyke got the win and Brayden Wells picked up a save for the Panthers.

West Allegheny 7, Shaler 6 – In Section 3-5A, Derek Curry hit a walk-off single in the eighth for West Allegheny (6-2, 4-2) to topple Shaler (9-2, 5-2). Teagan Tomei drove in a pair of runs and Ben Kern singled in another for the Indians. Alex Venezia went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs and Ben Yeckel doubled in a run for the Titans. Will Gubba got the win for West A.

West Greene 4, Jefferson-Morgan 1 – Winning pitcher Darren Knight struck out five while Johnny Lampe went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as West Greene (4-2, 4-2) defeated Jefferson-Morgan (2-6, 0-6) in Section 1-A. Deakyn Dehoet collected three base hits for the Rockets.

West Mifflin 14, Woodland Hills 0 – Isaiah Morrison went 2 for 3 with a triple and five RBIs while winning pitcher Jackson Fite fanned 11 to lead West Mifflin (11-1, 6-0) to a Section 3-4A shutout win over Woodland Hills (0-6, 0-4). Justin Dillon doubled, singled and drove in three runs and Nate Fleming went 3 for 3 with two runs driven in for the Titans.

Western Beaver 11, Summit Academy 1 – Winning pitcher Christian Stefankis went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs and Luke Trimble also went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead Western Beaver (4-2, 4-0) to a Section 2-A win over Summit Academy (0-4, 0-4).

Yough 10, Southmoreland 0 – Winning pitcher Nate Bell allowed three hits and struck out six in five shutout innings while Jake Williams drove in two runs as Yough (3-5, 3-2) blanked Southmoreland (2-5, 2-3) in Section 4-3A. Ty Keffer doubled for the Scotties.

Aliquippa 25, Sto-Rox 16 – Jules Miller had a double, triple and four RBIs and Nadyah Pettis doubled for Aliquippa (1-1) in a nonsection win over Sto-Rox (0-2).

Armstrong 16, Karns City 1 – Jessica Pugh went 3 for 3 with a double, home run and four RBIs and Emma Paul hit a grand slam for Armstrong (7-1) in a nonsection win over Karns City.

Baldwin 4, Mt. Lebanon 2 – Avery Herrington, Gabby Jaquay and Kaylee Smolko hit a double apiece to lead Baldwin (2-5, 1-4) to a Section 1-6A win. Hanna Boomhower and Ella Donahue had two shingles apiece for Mt. Lebanon (1-8, 1-6).

Brownsville 1, Waynesburg 0 – Ava Clark threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 13 to lead Brownsville (3-4, 2-2) to a Section 4-3A win. Ellie Makel doubled for Waynesburg (3-6, 1-2).

Carmichaels vs. Chartiers-Houston – The game was suspended by darkness with the score tied 5-5 in the 13th inning.

Union 15, Carlynton 0 – Mia Preuhs threw a three-inning no-hitter and hit a double for Union (8-1, 6-0) in a Section 1-A win over Carlynton (3-3, 2-2). Bella Cameron, Addie Nogay and Olivia Benedict each doubled for the Scotties.

West Allegheny 11, South Fayette 9 — Aubrey Police went 4 for 6 with a triple and hit the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the ninth for West Allegheny (9-1, 3-0) in a Section 3-5A win. Liv Bonacci, Emma Earley and Emma Smith each doubled for South Fayette (5-2, 3-2). Averi Zdinak and Savanna Benish hit a double apiece for the Indians.

West Mifflin 4, McKeesport 1 – Kaleigh Tatters went 3 for 3 with three triples to lead West Mifflin (6-4, 3-2) to a Section 1-4A win. Madison Miller doubled for McKeesport (6-4, 2-3).

Western Beaver 13, New Castle 0 – Maddie Syka hit a double and triple and Abby Tomkowski hit two triples to lead Western Beaver (3-2, 2-2) to a Section 3-5A win over New Castle (2-5, 1-4). Emma Bogacki struck out 14 for the Golden Beavers.

Girls lacrosse

North Hills 14, Seneca Valley 9 – Abigail Krogmann scored seven goals, Madeleine Korbel added three goals and three assists, and Addison Moriconi and Zoe Wyman each scored twice to lead North Hills to a Section 2-3A win.

Boys volleyball

Canon-McMillan 3, Bethel Park 0 – Luke Bockius had 13 kills and 13 digs to lead Canon-McMillan to a Section 1-3A win. Ben Kopec added nine kills, William O’Bryan handed out 11 assists, Nolan Rosing had 14 digs, and Justin Peters collected nine assists, six aces and eight digs.

Derry 3, Deer Lakes 0 – Noah Berkhimer had 12 kills and Cam McNichol and Mason Beeman added nine kills each to lead Derry to a Section 2-2A win. Caden Marsh had three blocks for the Trojans. Game scores were 25-10, 25-18, 25-15.

Moon 3, Upper St. Clair 1 – Charlie Basil and Aidan Boyd had 12 kills each and Casey Sunday added eight to lead Moon to a Section 1-3A win. Oliver Enos had four blocks for the Tigers.

Boys tennis

Section 1-3A – Defending WPIAL doubles champion Zidaan Hassan teamed up with Logan Memije to win a section singles title. The Gateway duo defeated second-seeded Dhruv Kulkarni and Colin Stalnaker of Franklin Regional in the finals, 6-2, 6-4. Franklin Regional’s San Ogawa and Calvin Armstrong topped Gateway’s Matthew Bandos and Troy Boden in the third-place match, 6-1, 6-4. The top four teams in Class 3A advance to the WPIAL tournament.

Section 2-3A – North Allegheny’s doubles teams paid no attention to seeding in the section doubles tournament. No. 10 Adithya Ramadas Guptha and Ahhav Ramadas will meet teammates Srivatsav Thirumala and Shivum Telang, the fourth seeds, for the title. In the semifinals, Guptha and Ramadas beat No. 6 Ian Hurt and Udi Akolkar of Pine-Richland, 6-2, 6-1, and Thirumala and Telang topped top-seeded Andrew Bocce and Benjamin Busler of Butler, 6-2, 6-3.

Section 3-3A – It will be an all-Fox Chapel final as Travis Malone and Ben Hallman take on Mason Friday and Ezra Shensa on Wednesday. Both Fox Chapel teams defeated Shady Side Academy duos in the semifinals. Malone and Hallman topped Sai Chaudry and Robert Bartolacci, 6-1, 6-2, and Friday and Shensa defeated Chase Hartman and Rob Brunins, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.

Section 1-2A – Section singles champ Landon Harclerode of Valley teamed up with Tyler Quinn to reach Wednesday’s section doubles finals. Harclerode and Quinn defeated Silas Morris and Tommy Shrumm of Latrobe in the semifinals, 6-2, 6-0. In the other semifinal, Indiana’s Gabe Nettleton and Noah Weigner knocked off second-seeded Aydan Gross and Eli Duvall of Mt. Pleasant, 6-1, 6-2. In Class 2A, the top three finishers advance to the WPIAL tournament.

Section 2-2A – In a three-set battle for the section doubles title, second-seeded Steven Duing and Brody Wojcik of South Park topped No. 1 Brendan Hallisey and Sakesh Andhavarapu of Chartiers Valley, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Thomas Jefferson’s Rylan Barr and Matthew Bonte defeated Tony Smida and Juraj Stasko of Ringgold for third place, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Section 4-2A – The top two seeds, both from Sewickley Academy, will meet for the section doubles title at Blackhawk. In the semifinals, No. 1 Jackson Quigley and Tejas Mitra beat No. 4 Nate Lion and Donovan Matsook of Central Valley, 6-1, 6-4, and No. 2 Max Kopf and Ben Terrell, a pair of freshmen, handled No. 3 Aiden Terry and Ben Crefeld of Blackhawk, 6-1, 6-0.

Section 5-2A – Top seeds John Rohrkaste and Jonah Carmadese of Montour won a hard-fought two-set match in the semifinals, beating No. 4 Will Watson and Brahm Gianiodis of Quaker Valley, 7-6 (6), 6-4, to reach the finals. They’ll face No. 3 Grant Webb and Matteo Castellini of Quaker Valley, who were 6-3, 6-4 winners over Chris Zhu and Nikou Nourbakhsh of Winchester Thurston.
