Winning pitcher Bryce Wright allowed one hit and no earned runs and struck out seven in 6⅔ innings while adding a single, double and two runs scored to lead No. 6 Avella to a 6-2 victory over Carmichaels in the WPIAL Class A baseball third-place game Wednesday.
Brian Martos had three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored and Charles Rush added three hits and two runs for the Eagles (12-6), who claimed the third and final PIAA playoff berth out of the WPIAL. Liam Lohr singled and drove in a run for No. 8 Carmichaels (13-6).
