Westmoreland County high school football players to watch for 2024 Week 2

Player of the week
Tyvaughn Kershaw
Monessen, jr., RB/LB
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound junior had quite a performance against West Greene last Friday. He scored five touchdowns — three rushing, one receiving and one punt return — and rushed for 183 yards on seven carries. Kershaw went 87 yards on a punt return. He’s averaging 25 yards per carry in two games and has amassed a WPIAL-leading 10 touchdowns.
Players to watch
John Jablunovsky
Ligonier Valley, sr., RB/LB
Jablunovsky rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Greensburg Salem last Friday. His touchdown was on an 82-yard run. He also caught two passes for 17 yards. He has scored three touchdowns this season.
Damauri Robinson
Derry, sr. RB/WR/DB
The 6-foot, 155-pound athlete scored two touchdowns and rushed for 151 yards to help the Trojans defeat Freeport last Friday. Robinson is Derry’s big-play threat and will play a key role this week against visiting Deer Lakes.
Carter Strayer
Mt. Pleasant, jr. OL/DL
The 6-5, 265-pound junior has played an important role in helping the Vikings’ ground game. He opens holes for Brody Hutter, Jarett Garn, Mason Eicher, Stephen Predajna and quarterback Cole Chatfield, who combined to rush for 336 yards against Greensburg Central Catholic.
