Jodie Polk Guerra was honored Sept. 27 by the Penn-Trafford School District for being the first female football player to score a point in WPIAL history.
Polk Guerra achieved the feat 30 years ago.
Penn-Trafford kicker Alexis Brown presented Polk Guerra with a gift before the game and then proceeded to kick her first two career extra points to help Penn-Trafford defeat Plum.
“We thought it was a pretty cool thing,” Penn-Trafford athletic director Kerry Hetrick said. “I knew Plum had a female kicker, so we reached out to Jodie and she came back. It was an opportunity for us to get them all together.”
It turned out to be a special night as Plum’s kicker Olivia Bigger nailed a 25-yard field goal and later an extra point.
Penn-Trafford defeated Plum, 34-10.
Tasso Whipple rushed for 163 yards and scored on runs of 5, 56 and 68 yards. He also had three catches for 72 yards.
Jonny Lovre completed 10 of 11 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown to Jack Weishaar of 46 yards. Derek Carr also scored.
Penn-Trafford improved to 4-2.
