2023 champion: Peters Township (371)
Divots: Seven-time champion Peters Township won WPIAL and PIAA titles last season with an all-junior lineup but missed the finals by three strokes at Tuesday’s semifinals. … Fox Chapel shot 380 in the semifinals at Champion Lakes with Carson Kittsley posting a 70. Fox Chapel was third last year. … Fox Chapel won titles in 2021 and ‘19. … North Allegheny has one team title, in 1971. … South Fayette won four straight championships from 2002-05. … Wes Lorish can go low and gives Plum a chance at its first title since 1969. … Class 3A newcomer Belle Vernon, the 2A champion last year, shot 379 to tie West Allegheny for first at the semifinal at Indian Run. Seth Tomalski shot 69. They have made the finals three straight times. … The champion advances to the PIAA Championship Oct. 23 at Penn State.

Divots: North Catholic carded a collective 390 to take the semifinal at The Links at Spring Church, while Quaker Valley was the only team to break 400 at the Pleasant Valley semifinal. … Quaker Valley has never won a team title. The Quakers tied for third last year. … Shady Side Academy, Elizabeth Forward and McGuffey also are seeking their first title. … GCC has five titles, the last in 1993. … McGuffey features WPIAL individual champion Logan Crowe. The Panthers won 12 in a row from 1994-2005. … Armstrong, Elizabeth Forward, Franklin Regional, Moon and Pine-Richland have never won a title. … The champion advances to the PIAA Championship Oct. 23 at Penn State.

The Centurions won by 24 last year over Central Valley and Mt. Pleasant. … GCC has two PIAA qualifiers in Kennedy Kelly and Alayna Stawovy. … Shady Side Academy, which features talented freshman Alyssa Zhang, the WPIAL individual champion, has won three titles, the last in 2011. … Neither North Catholic nor Mt. Pleasant have won titles.
