Dominant in every facet of the game, host Chartiers-Houston cruised to a 14-0 victory against Washington at Allison Park Elementary School on Thursday. The Lady Bucs scored multiple runs in each of the four innings they batted, and pitcher Kassie Kesneck tossed a complete-game shutout.

With the triumph, Chartiers-Houston remains third in Class AA Section 2 with a 5-3 mark (7-5 overall). Washington falls to 1-6 in section play (1-7 overall).

Chartiers-Houston gained the lead in the bottom of the first inning, when Kesneck helped her own cause with a single that plated two runners. In the second, Kesneck worked out of a jam from the circle, and once again the Lady Bucs found success offensively, as they capitalized on miscues by the Lady Prexies to add three more runs.

Conversely, the Lady Bucs’ defense made a number of sparkling plays, including impressive glove work by third baseman Sabrina Stankus on several occasions. While the Chartiers-Houston defense combined with Kesneck to keep Washington off the board, the Lady Bucs continued to find success at the plate, scoring twice more in the third stanza.

The final blow came in the bottom of the fourth, when Chartiers-Houston scored seven times, including a two-run single by freshman Kayla Alderson. Kesneck then capped off the mercy rule victory in the top of the fifth by retiring Miranda Tennent to complete the shutout.

For the contest, Kesneck allowed only four hits and two walks, while striking out four batters.

She also enjoyed a successful afternoon at the plate, as she went two-for-three, driving in three runs. Alderson safely hit in all three of her at-bats, and scored three times, as well. Jalynn Myers also chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBIs in the victory.

For the Lady Prexies, Taylor Ellis took the complete-game loss. She yielded nine hits and walked four, but she was also the victim of several defensive mistakes.

Ellis, Tennent, Alanna Ammon and Jaime Moore all contributed singles for Washington.

Chartiers-Houston returns to action on Tuesday, as the Lady Bucs will host Ringgold at Chartiers-Houston High School.
