For Chartiers-Houston it was just another day at the office. The Bucs (17-1, 9-0) dismantled Avella (5-10, 4-5) on a chilly Saturday afternoon, invoking the 15-run mercy rule in less than four complete innings, beating the Eagles 15-0.

The Bucs scored three runs in the first, four in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth to win the game in just 3.2 innings.

On the year, it was the 14th shutout and 15th 10+ run win for Chartiers-Houston, the unanimous #1 team in Class A and defending WPIAL Class A Champions.

Piper McLaughlin and Kayla Briggs, who only let up two hits in the pitching circle for the Bucs, went 7/7 at the plate, reaching base in all eight of their plate appearances and scoring every time.

McLaughlin had four hits, three RBI and four runs scored for Chartiers-Houston, who have won a historic eight WPIAL Championships.

Chartiers-Houston has now scored 220 runs this season, while only letting up 19, including 10 to Class AAA’s McGuffey.

Up next for the Bucs is a trip to Serra Catholic on May 1. Avella, who is clinging to the final playoff spot in Class A Section 1 will take on non-section Burgettstown on Monday.
