After winning a WPIAL championship a season ago, Canon-McMillan came into Saturday's action looking for the opportunity to repeat. And repeat they did as the Big Macs knocked off the Latrobe Wildcats at Chartiers Valley High School.

They got off to a fast start, winning 4 of the first 5 matches, one by fall (freshman Alec Hutchin) to take an early 15-3 lead.

But Latrobe would battle back as they won the next 4 matches to take a 16-15 lead.

However Canon-McMillan responded in a big way, as they picked up 3 straight victories to wrap up their 2nd straight WPIAL title. Juniors Cody Klempay and Colt Shorts picked up falls while sophomore Conner Schram sealed the win with a 5-1 victory.

Overall Canon-McMillan picks up its 7th WPIAL Championship as they win back to back titles. While the Big Macs went from start to finish as the #1 team in AAA, Head Coach Chris Mary was thrilled with the win as Mary said, "I couldn't be more proud of my guys. Hats off to my kids for battling and battling with the targets on our backs."

Listen in to head coach Chris Mary talk about his victory on Inside the WPIAL Wrestling Circle, Monday night at 7pm on msasports.net.
