It was a clean sweep on the alleys for Hempfield as both the boys and girls bowling teams captured titles in the 2011 WPIBL team championships. On Wednesday, the Spartans' boys captured gold for the first time since 2003 while on Thursday, the Hempfield girls cruised to a fourth consecutive bowling crown and their sixth championship in nine years.
The win by both the boys and the girls in the same year was the first WPIBL sweep since Penn Hills won both titles in 2007. Hempfield also accomplished the bowling sweep in 2003.
