You’ve heard of the perfect picture. Alain Girman is the perfect pitcher. Girman is a junior pitcher at Serra Catholic who has been a mainstay on the varsity pitching staff since his freshman year. He still doesn’t know what it’s like to be a losing pitcher in high school.

Girman came into this season with a perfect 14-0 record in his career. He was 8-0 last season with a no-hitter in the WPIAL Class A title game, and had a 6-0 record as a freshman. He continued his perfection Tuesday when he gave up only two hits in six innings in a 9-0 victory against East Allegheny.

That means Girman now has a 15-0 career record. Serra is the two-time defending WPIAL Class A champion and the Eagles are expected to be strong again this season. With such a good team behind him, it’s conceivable that Girman could go through another season with a perfect record.

But Girman has a ways to go in the next two seasons to break the WPIAL record for most career victories. It is held by Carmichaels graduate Jared Lapkowicz, who was 38-4 from 2002-05.

South Allegheny TE to Penn State

Wrestling was a big part of Jesse James’ youth and he competed in the sport through his sophomore year. But when it came time to choose a college, James didn’t wrestle much with the decision.

James, a junior at South Allegheny, made a verbal commitment to Penn State Monday
