The Freeport girls volleyball team has realized its dream of winning a PIAA championship.
The Yellowjackets defeated Delone Catholic on Saturday afternoon to claim the Class AA title at Richland High School.
Freeport (25-3) lost the first game 25-23 but came back to sweep the next three games, 25-9, 25-23 and 25-22.
It is the first PIAA team championship in the history of Freeport athletics.
Delone Catholic, the District 3 champion, sought its first PIAA title since winning back-to-back crowns in 2012 and 2013.
