Fox Chapel track coach Tom Moul has a good feeling about his team.

“We have a lot of talented, experienced athletes returning, and we're hoping for a good spring,” he said.

On the boys side, senior sprinter Andrew Jeffrey is the returning team MVP.

“He's hoping to have a strong senior year and make it to states for the first time,” Moul said. “I'm confident he can do it with the proper attitude and work ethic. We also have returning senior captains Ben Kronman and Wonho Kang back. They are both jumpers who are working toward making a strong showing this season at WPIALs and at some big invitationals.”

Sophomore distance runner Christian Fitch had a strong indoor season, placing second in the 3,000 meters at the TSTCA championships.

“He's got an eye toward making it to the state meet this season,” Moul said.

The Foxes also get junior hurdler Korey Simmons back.

“He was hurt all of last season. He's back this year and had a strong indoor season,” Moul said. “He's looking to follow that up with a strong outdoor season.”

Another hurdler who had a strong indoor season is senior Mo Muhina.

“He's looking to finish his high school career on a high note,” Moul said.

Key returnees for the girls include junior sprinter Kate Carnevale, who qualified for states in the 100 and 200 last year. She owns school records in both events and was co-MVP for the girls last season.

Caelan Miller, a senior distance runner, shared co-MVP honors with Carnevale. She qualified for states in the 1,600.

“She's made it to the state meet in each of her first three seasons and is looking to make it four,” Moul said.

Also hoping to make it to states are junior distance runners Sarena Seeger and Annika Urban, who were WPIAL medalists last year in the 3,200 and are looking to improve on those performances this season.

Sophomores Grace Sisson (1,600) and Brooke Krally (3,200) were WPIAL qualifiers last season.

“They're looking to earn WPIAL medals this year and hopefully get to the state meet,” Moul said. “Those two, along with Seeger, Urban and Miller, were the top performers on our state-champion cross country team this year.”

Juniors Carolyn Veith and Abby Baldauf and sophomore Maddy Kieffer are sprinters and part of the 1,600 team that had a very good indoor season. They are looking to qualify for WPIALs in the relay and as individuals.

Sophomore Mandy Schilcher and junior Eras Yager return in the shot put and discus.

“They had strong indoor seasons as well and strong outdoor seasons last year in the throws and are looking to follow that up with a trip to WPIALs this year,” Moul said.
