Freeport received more recognition for its 2017 PIAA girls volleyball championship, appearing at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg.

The Yellowjackets received an invitation after they beat Delone Catholic for the Class AA title in November, the first state title in their history.

Four players from that team — seniors Claire Crytzer, Courtney Grubbs and Hannah Mason and junior Ally DeJidas — were named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association’s all-state team. In March, Freeport Borough unveiled a road sign recognizing the team’s accomplishment along Second Street.
