Talented skill players Fundy, Lincosky return to lead Beth-Center

The Class 2A Century Conference will have its share of offensive fireworks this season.

Defending WPIAL champion Washington has dynamic playmakers, and Charleroi returns a trio of 1,000-yard performers.

Add Beth-Center to the list of skilled contenders.

The Bulldogs return a talented tandem in the backfield and have a host of talented skill players ready to contribute.

“On paper, we look pretty good,” coach Joe Kuhns said.

The Bulldogs will be led by senior running back Dom Fundy, who rushed for 1,527 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. “More of that plus. He’s definitely our leader,” Kuhns said. “He’s a manchild. He’s 6-2, 220 pounds, runs a legitimate 4.6 (40-yard dash). He’s got all the ingredients to be a game changer for sure.”

Senior quarterback Bailey Lincosky also returns to the backfield after throwing and rushing for 1,000 yards a year ago, when Beth-Center finished 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the Century Conference, losing to Serra Catholic, 27-20, in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.

“He came out of nowhere last year and made us look

really smart,” Kuhns said. “He makes great decisions, never gets in trouble, makes accurate passes and can run like a deer.”

Senior Dylan Dingle averaged nearly 8 yards per carry in limited touches last season. His brother, Devin, a junior wide receiver also is a playmaker, with senior JJ Green on the other side of the field adding to the attack.

“We’ve got some dangerous people,” Kuhns said. “People are going to have to defend sideline to sideline on us.”

Dylan Dingle and senior Drake Zellie anchor the linebacking corps, and seniors Evan Drucci and Jacob Baker are three-year starters at defensive end.

Kuhns also noted the contributions of senior JJ Berish who began his career as a defensive back but has developed into a starting nose tackle.

The Bulldogs are preparing for a challenging schedule in the Century Conference, along with nonconference games against California, East Allegheny and Imani Christian.

“This has got to be Beth-Center’s hardest schedule in 20 years,” Kuhns said. “It’s going to be a dogfight every week. .. This is a lot better for the program and the fans.”
