If the section opener was any indication, it should be an exciting girls soccer season in Section 1-4A.

Alex Adams scored in the second overtime to lead North Allegheny to a 3-2 victory over No. 2 Pine-Richland (2-1, 0-1) on Wednesday night.

Adams also scored in regulation for the Tigers (2-0, 1-0).

Moon 3, Baldwin 0 — In Section 2-4A, Abby McEnroe, Ria Singh and Alayshja Bable scored to guide defending WPIAL and PIAA champion Moon (2-0, 1-0) to a victory. The Tigers, who moved up from Class 3A, are ranked No. 4 in Class 4A.

Mt. Lebanon 9, Brashear 0 — Riley Sweet, Jane Chavez and Megan Perri all had two goals, and Morgan Palmer secured the shutout as Mt. Lebanon (1-1-1, 1-0) won in Section 2-4A.

Peters Township 2, Bethel Park 1 — Regan LaVigna and Hannah Stuck scored to guide No. 1 Peters Township (3-0, 1-0) to a Section 2-4A victory.

Hampton 8, Armstrong 0 — Logan Nicklaus had two goals for Hampton (1-1, 1-0) in a Section 1-3A win.

Ringgold 13, Albert Gallatin 0 — Faith Bobnar had three goals to lead Ringgold (1-2, 1-0) to a Section 2-3A win.

Thomas Jefferson 11, Woodland Hills 1 — Dalaney Ranallo had six goals to lead Thomas Jefferson (1-2, 1-0) to a Section 3-3A victory.

Trinity 5, West Mifflin 0 — Alyssa Clutter had three goals to guide Trinity (2-0, 1-0) to a Section 3-3A win.

South Fayette 6, Blackhawk 1 — Sara Meindl scored three times to help No. 5 South Fayette (2-0, 1-0) win a Section 4-3A game.

Bentworth 13, Geibel 0 — Paige Marshalek, Jocelyn Timlin and Rori Schreiber all had four goals as Bentworth (3-0, 1-0) won in Section 2-A. Marshalek added four assists to become the school’s all-time leader in the category with 53.

Quigley Catholic 7, Neshannock 0 — Ashley Minerd and Haley Drutarosky each scored twice as Quigley Catholic (2-0, 1-0) won in Section 3-A.

Seton LaSalle 2, Bishop Canevin 1 — Vanessa Peretin scored twice as Seton LaSalle (1-1, 1-1) won in Section 4-A.

Greensburg Salem 1, Laurel Highlands 0 — Freshman Kylie Smith found the back of the net four minutes into the second overtime as the Golden Lions won a Section 2-3A match.

Smith made a run past a group of defenders and beat the Laurel Highlands keeper to secure the victory. Becky Handke made 10 saves to earn the shutout.

Norwin 3, Hempfield 0 — Kendall Kranitz, Lexi Gray and Megan Dietz scored to lead No. 3 Norwin (1-0, 1-0) to a Section 3-4A victory over Hempfield (0-1, 0-1).

Connellsville 3, Latrobe 0 — Shelby Basinger, Madison Shoemaker and Naveah Hamborsky scored to guide Connellsville (3-0, 1-0) to a Section 3-4A victory over Latrobe (0-2, 0-1).

Penn-Trafford 6, Allderdice 0 — Kiley Dugan, Erin Brady and Jordan Lawrence scored twice each to guide Penn-Trafford (1-1, 1-0) to a Section 3-4A victory.

Megan Giesey made two saves to earn the shutout.

Indiana 1, Franklin Regional 0 — Hannah Scardina scored in the 65th minute to lift Indiana (3-0-1, 1-0) past Franklin Regional (1-1, 0-1) in a Section 1-3A game. Ella Spadafora made six saves to earn the shutout

Mt. Pleasant 1, Southmoreland 0 — Courtney Poulich scored 15 minutes into the game, and Mt. Pleasant (2-0, 1-0) made it stand in a Section 3-2A victory over Southmoreland (0-1, 0-1). Jenna Piper made 10 saves to secure the shutout.

Waynesburg 2, Yough 1 — Bailey Fudala’s goal off a free kick in the final minute lifted No. 2 Waynesburg (1-1, 1-0) to a Section 3-2A victory over No. 3 Yough (0-1, 0-1). Justine Appolonia scored for the Cougars.

Chartiers-Houston 7, Monessen 1 — Keely Acor and Alyssa Wright had two goals each as Chariters-Houston (2-1, 1-0) beat Monessen (0-2, 0-1) in Section 2-A.

Kiski Area 6, Knoch 3 — Reagan Frederick recorded a hat trick and an assist, and Kaylee Elwood had two goals and two assists as Class AAA No. 3 Kiski Area won in Section 1.

Ally Guido, Emily Shrag and Emerson Johngarlo recorded assists for the Cavaliers (1-0, 1-0), who dropped to Class AAA from 4A in the offseason realignment.

Lindsie Galbreath had a hat trick for the Knights (0-1, 0-1).

Freeport 4, Highlands 1 — Sidney Shemanski and Emma Check scored two goals apiece to help Freeport (1-1, 0-1) top Highlands (1-2, 0-1) in Section 2-AA. Abby Bastaja and Carli Giori had two assists apiece for the Yellowjackets.

Ariana Kovach had a goal on a free kick for the Golden Rams, and Sam Gildner made 15 saves in goal.

Deer Lakes 7, Valley 0 — Seven players scored as the Lancers rolled to a Section 2-AA victory over Valley (0-1, 0-1). Abigail Boulos, Madeline Boulos, Jaden Cutright, Nina Lafko, Lily Litrun, Jenna Hotovac and Ashley McAdams tallied goals for Deer Lakes (2-0, 1-0).

Burrell 8, East Allegheny 1 — Skylar Dale scored four goals to lead No. 5 Burrell (2-0-1, 1-0) to a Section 2-AA win over East Allegheny (0-1, 0-1). Danika Stone, Maia Ferra, Kaylee Pagane and Jordyn Kowlakowski scored a goal apiece for the Bucs.

Plum 2, Obama Academy 1 — The Mustangs (2-0, 1-0) got second-half goals from Carly O’Connell and Andrea D’Incau in a Section 3-AAA victory. Alyssa Proviano tallied an assist, and O’Connell provided the helper on D’Incau’s goal that proved to be the winner.

Zoe Nonnenberg made three saves in net for Plum. Obama is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in section play.

Boys soccer

Keystone Oaks 9, South Allegheny 1 — Gio Valforte, Ryan Vargo and Nicholas Lykens all scored twice as Keystone Oaks (2-0, 2-0) won in Section 1-2A.

Riverview 3, Valley 0 –Nico Cantanzaro, Sam Dreher and Ethan Snyder scored a goal apiece for Riverview (1-0) in a nonsection win at Valley (0-2). Parker Morgan and Jacob Sullivan recorded assists for the Raiders, and Mark McClelland stopped all seven shots he faced in goal for his first varsity shutout.
