Belle Vernon’s Hunter Martin captured four individual titles, and the Leopards won the boys team title Monday at the Scott Frederick Mid Mon Classic at Charleroi High School.
Martin placed first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.12 seconds), the 300 hurdles (42.46), the long jump (20 feet, 7.5 inches) and the triple jump (42-6.5).
Martin wasn’t the only athlete to claim multiple individual events.
Ringgold’s Jake Gorman raced to victories in the 100, 200 and 400 dashes, while teammate Lucas Pajak took first in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs.
On the girls side, Brownsville’s Jamilah Copeland (100 and 200), Beth-Center’s Sydney Urbine (800 and 1,600) and Brownsville’s Aniya Tarpley (long and triple jumps) were double winners.
Elizabeth Forward edged Brownsville for the girls team title, as Brianna Spirnak aided the victors with a triumph of 139-9 in the javelin.
The event, normally hosted at Ringgold’s Joe Montana Stadium, was held at Charleroi this year because of ongoing track construction at the home of the Rams.
