Long Time Hopewell Baseball Coach Passes Away
September 12, 2011
Joe Colella, who was the head coach at Hopewell High School for nearly five decades, passed away Sunday. The cause of death has not been released. Colella finished his 48th year as head coach of the Vikings this past spring.

Sterling Marte Sets Record in Altoona Curve Win at Bowie Monday
August 30, 2011
Aaron Pribanic's six innings of one-run ball combined with a four-run first inning was enough to lift the Curve to a, 5-1, series-opening win over the Bowie Baysox on Monday night at Prince George's Stadium. Starling Marte went 3-for-5 to pass Nate McLouth and become the franchise leader for hits in a season with his single in the seventh inning.

Washington Wild Things Fall Again to Lake Erie Crushers Sunday

The Washington Wild Things dropped game two of their three game weekend extended series against the Lake Erie Crushers 4-1 in Avon Ohio. The pitching for both teams was strong throughout the entire contest with the Wild Things pitching staff striking out ten batters and the Crushers striking out a total of twelve batters.

Altoona Curve Bitten by Sea Dogs Sunday in Loss at Portland
The Sea Dogs spoiled the finale of the season series and four-game series on Sunday afternoon as they took care of the Curve 8-5 at Hadlock Field. Portland pounded out eight runs on 15 hits off Curve pitching in the win. Starling Marte had a nice game offensively for Altoona finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored while Tony Sanchez had a pair of hits and drove in three.
