The fall sports postseason continues for high school football while the winter high school and college sports season begins in the first full week of November this week on the MSA Sports Network.2011 WPIAL FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS – 11/07
32 have exited the Highway to Heinz while 32 others are rambling on toward the round two exit. There were very few surprises in the First Round as only four double-digit seeds were victorious. #10 Hopewell in Class AAA, #13 Ellwood City in AA and a pair of #11-seeds - South Fayette in AA and Fort Cherry in A were able to keep their long-shot title hopes alive through the opening weekend.District College Football Recap – 11/06/2011

The spotlight always shines brighter in the WPIAL Playoffs. The pressure and the expectations mount in this lose and go home format. The WPIAL football playoffs start Friday night and never before has the postseason picture looked so perfect.Although the WPIAL started crowning football champions in 1914, the league didn’t have playoff games until 1971. While we wake up to a white out (What the…?), it was a knock out delivered by these football players from the final Friday of the regular season. Whether their team was chasing down a conference championship or trying to wrap up a playoff spot, these players below came up large. All 64 district high school football playoff berths have been determined, and only one conference is still up in the air going into the final day of the regular season on Saturday. The brackets are unveiled Monday night in all four classification as the Highway to Heinz opens up for First Round action next weekend.
