The cream is starting to rise to the top. With only 4 regular season games remaining on the schedule a picture is starting to shape up showing those "in the know" what the 2010 post season will look like in a month. The Pittsburgh City League is considering disbanding and joining the WPIAL. The City League has spoken with the WPIAL about possibly joining, as early as the 2012-13 season. Currently, the City League has nine schools, but Peabody is closing after this school year. Schenley also will close and its students will be at different schools.WPIAL Plays of the Week – Week 5

As October kicks into full swing, the weather turns rough and the defense begins to dominate this week in college football with battles in the PSAC and PAC. There was some offense as well, see W & J, Cal U and CMU, putting up huge numbers this week. We said so long to September football and greetings to the Boys of October. The final half of the WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League football regular season will be played as both the leaves and the temperatures start to drop through the tenth month of the year. Even though three former WPIAL players are starting at Pitt and Penn State (Jonathan Baldwin, Mike Shanahan, Derek Moye), the WPIAL hasn't been known for producing many big-time receivers over the years. It was a bit of a soggy start to the Week Five weekend in the WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League on Thursday. While the spotlight shined on Class AAAA and the Northern Seven Conference in the WPIAL, the Pittsburgh City League featured a battle between two of the top three teams through four weeks.
