PITTSBURGH CITY LEAGUE LOOKING TO JOIN WPIAL
The Pittsburgh City League is considering disbanding and joining the WPIAL. The City League has spoken with the WPIAL about possibly joining, as early as the 2012-13 season. Currently, the City League has nine schools, but Peabody is closing after this school year. Schenley also will close and its students will be at different schools.

Scholastic Notebook – 10/01/2010
Even though three former WPIAL players are starting at Pitt and Penn State (Jonathan Baldwin, Mike Shanahan, Derek Moye), the WPIAL hasn't been known for producing many big-time receivers over the years. Maybe it's because having a receiver with a lot of catches doesn't equate to wins in the WPIAL Never has that notion been more true than this year.
