PIHL Class AAA rivals Bethel Park and Peters Township already have played two league games this season.
On Tuesday, however, the Black Hawks and Indians will meet for a cause with perspective greater than simply victories and points in the division standings.
The Battle in the Snow between the teams on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. will be the first outdoor game at the newly redesigned South Park Ice Rink.
Proceeds benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Spencer Family YMCA.
Admission to the game for adults is a $10 donation. For students, the requested donation is $5.
Everyone also is invited to skate at the new skate trail during the game. Regular rink admission fees will be in effect.
Peters Township and Bethel Park both are securely in the field for the upcoming AAA Penguins Cup playoffs. The Indians are one point out of first place with two games to play, and the Black Hawks, with their regular season complete, are in seventh.
