FINAL WPIAL Girls Basketball Playoff Picture

The MSA Sports Stretch Run is nearly over for almost all of the WPIAL girls basketball teams. All of the playoff spots have been filled in each of the four classifications. Here is a rundown of the final WPIAL girl's roundball playoff picture through Friday, February 11th.

The top FOUR teams in each section qualify for the WPIAL playoffs. If there is a tie for the final playoff spots and head-to-head does not break the tie, then all of the tied teams make it to the postseason.

WPIAL CLASS AAAA – 17 TEAMS:

SECTION 1:

* Penn-Trafford (12-0) has clinched the section championship

* Kiski Area (10-2), Norwin (7-5) and Hempfield (7-5) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 2:

* Gateway (9-3) and Woodland Hills (9-3) have clinched a share of the section championship

* Fox Chapel (7-5) and Plum (7-5) have clinched playoff spots

SECTION 3:

* Shaler (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Oakland Catholic (10-2) and North Allegheny (9-3) have clinched playoff spots

* North Hills (4-8) and Pine-Richland (4-8) have also clinched playoff spots since they split on the head-to-head tiebreaker

SECTION 4:

* Mount Lebanon (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Bethel Park (10-2), Baldwin (9-3) and Upper St. Clair (5-7) have clinched playoff spots

WPIAL CLASS AAA – 24 TEAMS:

SECTION 1:

* Kittanning (9-1) has clinched the section championship

* Mars (8-2) and Hampton (7-3) have clinched playoff spots

* Valley (2-8), Highlands (2-8) and Knoch (2-8) have also all clinched playoff spots since they all finished 2-2 in the head-to-head tiebreaker

SECTION 2:

* New Castle (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Blackhawk (10-2), Ambridge (9-3) and Hopewell (6-6) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 3:

* Indiana (12-0) has clinched the section championship

* Uniontown (9-3), Mount Pleasant (9-3) and Laurel Highlands (6-6) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 4:

* South Park (9-1) has clinched the section championship

* West Mifflin (8-2) and Thomas Jefferson (7-3) have clinched playoff spots

* Elizabeth Forward (2-8), Ringgold (2-8) and Belle Vernon (2-8) have also all clinched playoff spots since they all finished 2-2 in the head-to-head tiebreaker

SECTION 5:

* Montour (8-2) and Chartiers Valley (8-2) have each clinched a share of the section championship

* South Fayette (7-3) and West Allegheny (5-5) have clinched playoff spots

WPIAL CLASS AA – 24 TEAMS:

SECTION 1:

* Deer Lakes (13-1) has clinched the section championship

* Ford City (11-3), Elderton (10-4) and Freeport (9-5) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 2:

* Riverside (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Beaver Falls (10-2), Neshannock (8-4) and New Brighton (6-6) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 3:

* Jeannette (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Greensburg Central Catholic (10-2), Shady Side Academy (9-3) and Springdale (6-6) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 4:

* Washington (11-1) and Charleroi (11-1) have clinched a share of the section championship

* Brownsville (8-4) and Bentworth (6-6) have clinched playoff spots

SECTION 5:

* Seton-LaSalle (12-0) has clinched the section championship

* Bishop Canevin (9-3), Steel Valley (8-4) and Keystone Oaks (7-5) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 6:

* Avonworth (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Sto-Rox (9-3), Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (8-4) and Quaker Valley (8-4) have all clinched playoff spots

WPIAL CLASS A – 17 TEAMS:

SECTION 1:

* Aliquippa (11-1) has clinched the section championship

* Rochester (10-2) and Quigley (9-3) have clinched playoff spots

* Cornell (5-7) and Sewickley Academy (5-7) also have clinched playoff spots since they split the head-to-head tiebreaker

SECTION 2:

* Vincentian Academy (10-0) has clinched the section championship

* North Catholic (8-2), St. Joseph (6-4) and Riverview (4-6) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 3:

* Fort Cherry (12-0) has clinched the section championship

* Chartiers-Houston (9-3), Avella (8-4) and Carmichaels (7-5) have all clinched playoff spots

SECTION 4:

* Monessen (12-0) has clinched the section championship

* Serra Catholic (10-2), California (7-5) and Geibel (7-5) have all clinched playoff spots
