Class 2A action was a little more unpredictable, most notably with No. 11 seed Vitaliy Pikalo of Hampton knocking off the No. 6 and No. 3 seed to reach the semifinals.

Ultimately, though, the top two seeds made the finals.

No. 1 Severin Harmon of Sewickley Academy, last year’s runner-up, defeated No. 4 Jonah Jasek of South Park, 6-2, 6-0, in one semifinal, and No. 2 Jackson Gillespie of Aquinas Academy beat Pikalo, 6-1, 6-0, in the other.

Championship and consolation matches in both classes are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at North Allegheny.

The top two finishers in Class 3A and the top four in Class 2A advance to the PIAA tournament.
