High school roundup for Feb. 19, 2018: Melonja’s 35 points leads Lincoln Park past Carlynton

Thomas Melonja had 35 points and Keeno Holmes scored 14, including the 1,000th of his career, as No. 1 Lincoln Park defeated No. 16 Carlynton, 80-48, in a WPIAL Class 3A first-round boys basketball game Monday night at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic.
Lincoln Park (16-6) will play Burgettstown in a quarterfinal-round game Thursday at a time and site to be determined.
Carlynton finished its season 9-15.
Burgettstown 63, East Allegheny 57 — Ryan Lounder had 16 points and Scott Ferris added 15 as No. 9 Burgettstown (16-6) won a WPIAL Class 3A first-round game at Peters Township.
Olajawon Owens had 16 points for No. 8 East Allegheny (11-10).
Seton LaSalle 70, South Allegheny 48 — Bolstered by a 21-6 run to start the game, No. 2 Seton LaSalle (17-5) rolled to a Class 3A first-round win at Peters Township. George Mike IV had 25 points and Matt Banbury added 10 for the Rebels, who will play Shady Side Academy in the quarterfinals Thursday at a time and site to be determined.
Juwan Mitchell had 15 points and Derek Lockhart added 14 for No. 15 South Allegheny (11-12).
