High school roundup for Nov. 13, 2023: South Fayette tops Fox Chapel in PIHL 2A battle

Nolan Murphy had two goals and an assist and Nathaniel Keller also scored twice to help South Fayette to a 5-3 victory over Fox Chapel in PIHL Class 2A hockey Monday night.

Robert Chiappetta had a goal and two assists and Trevor Dalessandro handed out three assists for South Fayette (3-1-1). Killian Kissane, Liam Wiseman and Dom Casile each had a goal and an assist for Fox Chapel (5-3).

Avonworth 14, Westmont Hilltop 2 – Jack Dolan, Austin Gatti and Cooper Powell each had two goals and three assists for Avonworth (6-0) in Class A. Conner Ralston and Jake Seifarth each had two goals and two assists. Brett Hoffman and Colby Carlson scored for Westmont Hilltop (0-5-1).

Burrell 7, Deer Lakes 4 – Aidan Petroff had a hat trick and added an assist as Burrell defeated Deer Lakes in Varsity D2. John Lukac had two goals and an assist and Luke Mink and Cody Martin also scored for Burrell (4-2). Ryan Grunden had a hat trick and Giovanni Porco also scored for Deer Lakes (4-3).

Central Catholic 6, Cathedral Prep 2 – Aaron Daley and Griffin Lewis each scored twice and Cain Phillips had a goal and two assists as Central Catholic (4-3) picked up a Class 3A win. Ashton Duchini and Ethan Cunningham scored for Cathedral Prep (2-5).

Knoch 7, Central Valley 3 – Mick Ritts scored twice and Nick Olshanski had a goal and two assists to lead Knoch (3-2) to a Varsity D2 win. Brady Linamen added a goal and an assist and Colbon Baptiste made 30 saves. Aidan Pournaras had a goal and an assist for Central Valley (4-3).

Montour 12, Kiski 5 – Liam Dallas had a seven-point night with three goals and four assists and Aidan Moskovitz collected three goals and three assists to lead Montour (1-7) in Class A. Thomas Barefoot had two goals and two assists and Cole Dallas dished out four assists for Montour. Ethan Bombalski scored four goals for Kiski (0-7).

Morgantown 5, Wilmington 2 – Geno Valenti, Jacob Hollander, Cooper Cox and Brayden Hellen all had a goal and an assist each as Morgantown (4-2) won in Varsity D2. Sean Carmichael and Brody Young scored for Wilmington (1-4).

Mt. Lebanon 4, Baldwin 3 – Xavier Bias and Luke Eberhart scored third-period goals to break a 2-2 tie and lead Mt. Lebanon (4-3) to a Class 3A victory. Sawyer Klasnick had a goal and two assists. Tanner Plinta had a goal and an assist for Baldwin (1-5).

North Catholic 4, Butler 1 – Beckett Dunn had three goals and an assist, Ryan Berry also scored, and Wyatt Cleveland made 22 saves to lead North Catholic (3-2-1) in Class A. Grant Holt scored for Butler (3-5).

Shaler 4, Mars 2 – Brendan Fitzgerald had a goal and an assist and Jacob Skerlong, Jacob Kunc and Chase Irwin also scored for Shaler (7-0) in a Class A win. Ben Olshenske had a goal and an assist for Mars (3-3).

Thomas Jefferson 12, North Hills 0 – Jake Stock scored a hat trick and Scott Allan had a goal and two assists to lead Thomas Jefferson (7-0) past North Hills (0-5-1) in Class 2A.
