High school roundup for Nov. 16, 2023: Seneca Valley hockey gets past Mt. Lebanon

Marshall Hewitt had a goal and an assist to help Seneca Valley to a 4-3 victory over Mt. Lebanon in PIHL Class 3A hockey Thursday night.

Collin Weston, Tyler Garvin and Ian Uram also scored for Seneca Valley (5-2). Connor Ribstein had a goal and an assist for Mt. Lebanon (4-3-1).

Bishop Canevin 8, Ringgold 1 – Ryan Saginaw collected five goals and an assist and Aiden Malay and Ben Ondrejko each had a goal and three assists to power Bishop Canevin (5-0) to a Varsity D2 win. Donnie Tustin scored for Ringgold (1-3-2).

Carrick 7, Trinity 3 – Tanner Heidkamp had three goals and two assists to help Carrick (6-2) to a Varsity D2 victory. Ivan Manculich had a goal and two assists and Christian Cole added a goal and an assist. Cole Ramey, Hayden Gatewood and Cale Bitz scored for Trinity (1-3).

Central Valley 9, Morgantown 7 – Gavin Crivelli racked up three goals and three assists while Aiden Pournaras added three goals and two assists for Central Valley (5-3) in a Varsity D2 victory. Mikey Crea had two goals and two assists. Jacob Hollander had two goals and an assist and Brayden Hellen added a goal and an assist for Morgantown (4-3).

Connellsville 6, Elizabeth Forward 3 – Matty Smith had a goal and an assist to lead Connellsville (1-5) to a Varsity D2 win. Ian Zerecheck, Tyler Cook, Hunter Garlick, Jesse Hodge and Braden Rogerson also scored. Doug Hoffman had a pair of goals for Elizabeth Forward (1-4). Bobby Boord Jr. also scored.

Deer Lakes 8, Sewickley Academy 0 – Ryan Grunden had two goals and two assists, Shawn McIntyre also scored twice, and Aaron Haney recorded an 18-save shutout as Deer Lakes (5-3) blanked Sewickley Academy (0-5-1) in Varsity D2. Eliot Belli and Zachary Nacey each added a goal and an assist.

Fox Chapel 7, Bishop McCort 6 – Killian Kissane and Liam Wiseman scored third-period goals to lead Fox Chapel (6-3) to a comeback win in Class 2A. Kissane had two goals and three assists on the night while Wiseman and Dom Casile each collected two goals and an assist. Timur Naletov had two goals and an assist for Bishop McCort (3-3-1).

Hempfield 6, North Hills 2 – Nick Eberhardt collected a goal and three assists to lead Hempfield in Class 2A. JJ Williams had a goal and two assists, Max Short added a goal and an assist, and Nino Dipietro, Nick McCauley and Nick Crupie also scored for Hempfield (3-3). Joey Spivak and Dillon Cobaugh scored for North Hills (0-7).

Indiana 10, West Allegheny 3 – Phil Bell had two goals and two assists, Landin Wilson added two goals and an assist, and Andrew Kobak and Gabe Nettleton also scored two goals apiece to lead Indiana (6-1-2) in Class A. Noah Figley, Max Smith and John Wineland scored for West Allegheny (1-6).

Mars 5, Greensburg Salem 4 (SO) – Ethan Lipchin scored the tying goal midway through the third period, helping Mars to a shootout victory in Class A. Lipchin and Jacob Lestitian each had a goal and an assist for Mars (4-3). Carter Cherok had two goals and an assist and Luke Dieter and Dylan Swierczynski also scored for Greensburg Salem (6-3-1).

Plum 3, Beaver 1 – Maksim Popienko, Luca Lapiana and Nick Majors scored in a six-minute stretch of the second period to lead Plum to a Class A victory. Colby Bartos had a pair of assists and Landon Gribbin-Horner made 39 saves for Plum (3-4). Tanner Nicol scored for Beaver (3-5).

Pine-Richland 4, Canon-McMillan 1 – Carson Verszyla, Jeremy Casper, Zachary Howard and Benjamin Baileys scored and Cullen Campbell had two assists for Pine-Richland (5-2) in a Class 3A win. Rocco Musto scored for Canon-McMillan (0-7).

Upper St. Clair 3, Cathedral Prep 2 (OT) – Rory Shegan-Siniawski scored the overtime winner and Luke Fisher and Eli Rankin also scored for Upper St. Clair (5-2) in a Class 3A victory. Braydan McGarry and Garrett Schwartz scored for Cathedral Prep (2-5-1).

Wheeling Park 11, Westmont Hilltop 4 – Cooper and Owen Abraham each had two goals and an assist and Landon Szazysnki also scored twice for Wheeling Park (5-3) in a Class A win. Logan Glessner and Brett Hoffman each scored twice for Westmont Hilltop (0-7).
