John Krug scored twice to lead Chartiers Valley to a 4-2 victory over Central Valley in a key matchup for playoff positioning in Section 2-3A boys soccer Thursday night. Landon DeOrio and Xavier Mwaura also scored for the Colts (5-6, 5-4). Will Manning and Sean Kennelly scored for Central Valley (6-6-2, 4-6-2).
Belle Vernon 8, Washington 0 – Trevor Kovatch had four goals and two assists and Brandon Yeschenko and Logan Metzger scored two goals apiece to lead Belle Vernon (12-2, 11-1) to a Section 3-2A win over Washington (4-11, 4-8).
Bentworth 6, California 0 – Andrew Vipperman scored two goals for Bentworth (11-2, 7-2) in a Section 2-A win over California (3-8, 1-6). Ryan Moessner, Aiden McMurray, John Scott and Dillan Colbert also scored for the Bearcats.
Butler 4, Shaler 0 – Cody Lubinsky, Lawson Neigh, Landon Stevenson and Christian Mortimer scored for Butler (10-2-3, 7-2-2) in a Section 1-4A win over Shaler (0-12-2, 0-11-1).
Canon-McMillan 6, Hempfield 0 – Ryan Galicic had a hat trick to lead Canon-McMillan (7-6-1, 7-4-1) past Hempfield (0-13, 0-11) in Section 2-4A.
Charleroi 16, Ligonier Valley 0 – Bryce Large scored four goals and Arlo McIntyre and Dylan Klinger each had a hat trick to lead Charleroi (14-0, 9-0) to a Section 2-A win over Ligonier Valley (3-9-1, 0-8) to secure the section title.
Deer Lakes 16, Leechburg 1 – Zane Spence and Ethan Alberta each had a hat trick and Collin Rodgers added a goal and five assists for Deer Lakes (11-2, 10-1) in a Section 2-2A win over Leechburg (0-12, 0-11).
Elizabeth Forward 2, West Mifflin 0 – Will Sinay scored both goals for Elizabeth Forward (8-4-1, 7-4-1) in a Section 1-2A win over West Mifflin (4-12, 4-8). Nate Grimm had an assist and Matt Johnston recorded the shutout.
Franklin Regional 2, Penn Hills 1 – Tim Wagner and Dom Kaforey scored to lead Franklin Regional (9-5, 8-4) to a Section 4-3A win over Penn Hills (5-8-1, 3-8-1).
Greensburg Central Catholic 12, Geibel 2 – Grant Brewer scored four goals and Jackson Vacanti added a pair for Greensburg Central Catholic (5-8) in a nonsection win over Geibel (0-6). Gavin Rigby, Will Cryblskey and Jared Dobrinski also scored for the Centurions.
Highlands 5, Armstrong 0 – Sam Norris had a pair of goals and Elliott Bannister, Jesse Maloney and Ryan Maloney also scored for Highlands (3-10, 1-9) in a Section 1-3A shutout of Armstrong (5-9-1, 3-7-1).
Jeannette 11, Derry 5 – Jordan Taylor scored seven goals and Austin Emery and Jared Vincent added two goals each as Jeannette (9-6, 6-6) beat Derry (2-12, 2-10) in Section 2-2A.
Keystone Oaks 4, Woodland Hills 0 – Makram Ishaq, Justin Laie, Kemuel Villasmil and Ayden Worstell scored for Keystone Oaks (8-5, 8-4) in a Section 1-2A win over Woodland Hills (6-6, 6-5).
Knoch 3, Shady Side Academy 2 – Mason Nebel scored the game-winner in double overtime and Knoch (9-7, 9-3) defeated Shady Side Academy (10-2, 9-2) in Section 2-2A. Will Schwalm and Matthew Welsh also scored for the Knights. Amir Awais scored twice for the Bulldogs.
Moon 2, Ambridge 0 – Mike Walenchok and Aedan Costa scored and Zach Shutak preserved the shutout as Moon (12-2-1, 10-0-1) beat Ambridge (1-14-1, 1-10-1) in Section 2-3A.
North Catholic 7, Kiski Area 0 – Micah Khembo scored twice to lead North Catholic (6-6, 5-3) past Kiski Area (3-7-1, 3-5-1) in Section 1-3A.
Norwin 3, Baldwin 0 – Chase Molinaro, Daniel Maddock and Kaden Markovich scored to lead Norwin (11-4, 9-3) to a Section 2-4A win over Baldwin (3-11, 1-10).
Peters Township 1, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Blake Gabelhart scored the winning goal and Markus Bizyak recorded the shutout for Peters Township (10-3, 9-3) in a Section 2-4A win over Mt. Lebanon (6-8-1, 6-5-1).
Plum 5, Gateway 2 – Gage Adinolfi had two goals and an assist and Tristin Ralph added a goal and two assists to lead Plum (14-1, 12-0) past Gateway (7-4-2, 7-3-2) in Section 4-3A. Brady French and Parker Berrott also scored for the Mustangs.
Ringgold 2, Trinity 2 – Brady Anderson had two goals and John Garcia added two assists for Trinity (6-5-1, 6-5-1) while Nick Evans and Juraj Statsko scored for Ringgold (11-2-1, 9-2-1) in a Section 3-3A draw.
Quaker Valley 7, Mohawk 0 – Nick Allan and Isaac Williams scored two goals apiece for Quaker Valley (11-3, 9-1) in a Section 4-2A win over Mohawk (3-11, 3-8).
Seneca Valley 8, North Hills 0 – Tyler Holloway had a hat trick for Seneca Valley (11-0-3, 9-0-3) in a Section 1-4A win over North Hills (3-10-1, 1-10-1).
Serra Catholic 15, Chartiers-Houston 0 – AJ Mejalli scored four goals and Jose Tectec had a hat trick for Serra Catholic (10-2, 8-1) in a Section 4-A win over Chartiers-Houston (2-13, 1-8). Collin Holmes added two goals for the Eagles.
Seton LaSalle 3, Carlynton 0 – Jack Billick had two goals and Paul Farnan also scored to lead Seton LaSalle (11-1-1, 8-1) to a Section 4-A win over Carlynton (8-6, 5-4).
Springdale 2, Trinity Christian 0 – Patrick Wylly had a goal and an assist, Billy Lawrence also scored and Noah Skaugen recorded the shutout for Springdale (10-2, 9-2) in a Section 3-A win over Trinity Christian (6-4, 5-4).
Thomas Jefferson 4, Albert Gallatin 0 – Ray Schrello had a hat trick, Jake Shoemaker also scored and Sam Wessel and Cody O’Hare combined on the shutout for Thomas Jefferson (12-2-1, 10-1-1) in a Section 3-3A victory over Albert Gallatin (2-12, 1-11).
Upper St. Clair 3, Allderdice 0 – Jan Sames netted a pair and Emiliano Sobrazo scored once to pace Upper St. Clair (13-1, 11-1) in a Section 2-4A win over Allderdice (2-9, 2-8).
West Allegheny 3, Blackhawk 2 – All three goals were scored by Aaron Bouch to lead West Allegheny (4-8, 4-6) past Blackhawk (3-13, 1-11) in a Section 2-3A win.
Girls soccer
Monessen 5, Brownsville 3 – Sam Saylor and Ava Petruska scored twice each and Monessen (4-8-1) secured a nonsection win over Brownsville (0-14).
Franklin Regional 3, Hampton 1 – Allyssa Velasquez had two goals and Abby Paterline also scored as Franklin Regional (10-3-1) defeated Hampton (10-4) in a nonsection matchup of top teams in Class 3A. Sara Kenst scored for the Talbots.
Penn-Trafford 11, Yough 0 – Hanna Weishaar, Emilie Oslosky, Bella Swartz and Mary Brobst each had a goal and an assist to lead Penn-Trafford (10-4) to a nonsection win over Yough (5-11). Rease Solomon and Alannah Hall combined on the shutout.
Girls volleyball
Beaver 3, Riverside 0 – Chloe List had 26 kills and 11 digs and Aubrey Bumblis had 22 digs for Beaver in a Section 1-2A sweep over Riverside.
Brownsville 3, Chartiers-Houston 0 – Skyler Gates had 15 kills and five blocks, Mackenzie Wade added 13 assists and five aces, and Caylee Balabon had 17 digs for Brownsville in a nonsection win.
Canon McMillan 3, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Natalie Carr had 16 kills and Josie Carter had 15 assists and 13 digs for Canon McMillan in a Section 2-4A win over Mt. Lebanon.
Franklin Regional 3, Greensburg Salem 0 – Carson Burgh had 27 assists, Brooke Feorene had 18 digs and Hadley Regelski had five aces for Franklin Regional in a Section 5-3A win over Greensburg Salem.
Hampton 3, Penn Hills 0 – Taylor Frankel had nine kills and Lilly Muczinski had 17 assists for Hampton in a Section 1-3A win over Penn Hills.
Hempfield 3, Norwin 0 – Ashley Hosni had 14 kills, Zoey Hopkins dished out 19 assists and Sarah Podkul had 14 digs for Hempfield in a Section 3-4A win. Presslee Horchak added 18 assists.
Laurel 3, Beaver Falls 0 – Dakota Weldon had eight kills and Kayla Carlson added four blocks to lead Laurel to a Section 1-2A win. Teagan Fortuna had 12 assists and Tori Atkins and Hailey Collins each served six aces.
Laurel Highlands 3, Connellsville 1 – Ayrianna Sumpter had 17 kills, Sara Reed dished out 31 assists and Jayna Fabery had 20 digs for Laurel Highlands in a Section 3-3A win.
Mapletown 3, Avella 0 – Isabella Garnek had 10 kills, Bri Ashton had 15 digs and five aces, and Bailey Rafferty had 25 assists and three aces for Mapletown in a Section 2-A sweep over Avella.
Mars 3, Ambridge 0 – Mars was led by Cecilia Christie with seven kills and eight blocks in a Section 4-3A sweep over Ambridge. Ella Nicotra contributed nine kills and Emma Balazentis led the defenders with 10 digs.
New Brighton 3, Sto-Rox 0 – Astrid Reyes served a dozen aces and had five assists to help New Brighton top Sto-Rox in Section 2-4A.
Penn-Trafford 3, Fox Chapel 0 – Kylie Anthony had 12 kills and Kaci DePalma added nine to lead Penn-Trafford to a Section 3-4A win.
Southmoreland 3, Yough 0 – Gabby Grabiak and Taryn Hollis each had five kills as Southmoreland improved to 15-0 with a Section 3-2A win.
St. Joseph 3, Leechburg 1 – Anna Kreinbrook had six kills, Kate Giannetta added five kills and 22 service points and Jillian Bloch earned 15 service points as St. Joseph improved to 10-3 with a Section 4-A win.
Field hockey
Fox Chapel 1, Upper St. Clair 0 – Emma Srodes scored the lone goal for Fox Chapel in a Section 2A win over Upper St. Clair. Gina Fitzsimmons recorded the shutout for the Foxes.
Latrobe 1, Oakland Catholic 0 – Belle Blossey scored the winning goal in overtime to lift Latrobe to a Class 2A win over Oakland Catholic. Erin Ulewicz made five saves, including a penalty stroke, and McKenna Brackney made two saves for the Wildcats.

Beaver 9, Hampton 2 – Roman Guido had four goals and an assist and Trevor Schmidt collected two goals and three assists to lead Beaver (1-0) to a Class A win. Preston Cochran had a goal and an assist for Hampton (0-1).
Central Catholic 3, Bethel Park 0 – Nate Cox, Josh Moline and Christian Zvacky scored and Thomas Puhalla made 27 saves to earn the shutout as Central Catholic (1-0) beat Bethel Park (1-1) in Class 3A.
Deer Lakes 3, Ringgold 0 – RJ Norkus had two goals, Eliot Belli also scored and Aaron Haney had a 20-save shutout for Deer Lakes (1-0) in a Varsity D2 win over Ringgold (0-2).
Central Valley 7, Carrick 3 – Gavin Crivelli had a hat trick to lead the Warriors (1-0) to a Division 2 win. Aiden Pournaras and Mikey Crea added two goals each for Central Valley. Tanner Heidkamp scored twice for Carrick (0-1).
Chartiers Valley 7, Freeport 0 – Noah Callender had two goals and two assists and Bryaden Knight and Chris DeAngelis added a goal and an assist apiece for Chartiers Valley (1-0) in a Class A win over Freeport (0-1).
Fox Chapel 7, North Hills 2 – Spencer Goehring and Liam WIseman scored two goals apiece to lead Fox Chapel (2-0) to a Class 2A win. Chris Muschar and Blake Kunkel scored for North Hills (0-1).

Hempfield 3, Latrobe 0 – Nick Eberhardt, Austin Herron and JJ Williams scored and Evan Saltzgiver had a 17-save shutout as Hempfield (1-0) beat Latrobe (1-1) in Class 2A.
Mars 6, Indiana 1 – Ben Olshenske had a goal and four assists and Jacob Lestitian added a goal and an assist for Mars (1-1) in a Class A win. Landin Wilson scored for Indiana (1-1).
Neshannock 7, Elizabeth Forward 0 – Sebastien Renick scored twice, Giovanni Valentine added a goal and two assists and Nolan Wilson had a 21-save shutout as Neshannock (2-0) beat Elizabeth Forward (0-1) in Varsity D2.
North Allegheny 5, Mt. Lebanon 2 – Marc Joyson had a hat trick and Ed Scherer and Luke Walkauskas also scored for North Allegheny (1-0) in a Class 3A win. Griffin Krupp and Connor Ribstein scored for Mt. Lebanon (0-1).
Peters Township 3, Pine-Richland 2 – Luca Maietta had a goal and an assist and Brady Holleran and Drew Alexander also scored for Peters Township (1-0) in a Class 3A victory. Benjamin Baileys had a goal and an assist for Pine-Richland (0-1).
Thomas Jefferson 4, South Fayette 3 – Thomas Jefferson (1-0) won via shootout, topping South Fayette (0-1) in Class 2A. Andrew Oliver tied the game for the Jaguars with a shorthanded tally in the third period. Nathan Weiss and Luke Pokorny also scored for Thomas Jefferson. Braydon Reighard, Trevor Dalessandro and Jackson Brandebura had a goal each for South Fayette.
Upper St. Clair 5, Baldwin 2 – Eli Rankin scored twice, Dylan Yealy collected a goal and two assists and Nico Galardini had a goal and an assist for Upper St. Clair (1-0) in a Class 3A win. Tanner Plinta scored twice for Baldwin (0-1).
