Hometown Volleyball Match Recap – West Allegheny Indians – 10/10/2014

The West Allegheny Indians (6-4) kept their playoff hopes alive Thursday by beating the McKeesport Tigers (0-9), winning in sweep set fashion, 25-5, 25-5 and 25-11.
The Indians are preparing for playoff action and they looked the part in this contest. With scoring runs of 7, 11, 12 and a string of 4-0 runs throughout the first two sets. Thus, staging the final match clinching set to win the WPIAL AAA Section 5 clash.
Juniors Lauryn Long and Alyssa Placha were great on both sides of the court for the Indians. Junior Long couldn’t be stopped with her furious attack of kills and Placha had the back court on lock down for the Indians. Of course Senior Tara Savisky was solid once again and Head Coach Brian Begor was very pleased with the effort after the game.
As for the McKeesport Tigers, a tough season for them, but the bright spot was Senior Carly Sherer. She held together the Tiger defense with a bunch of great digs to stop a few runs by West Allegheny.
West Allegheny will get ready for Baldwin Tuesday at Baldwin. West Allegheny has two section games remaining on their schedule in the hopes of positioning themselves for a great postseason run.
