Serra Catholic’s Jimmy Moon stood above the crowd.

As he usually does.

The 6-foot-9 senior forward was virtually unstoppable Friday night at Brentwood, pouring in 40 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

Moon led third-ranked Serra Catholic to a 64-47 section win against the Spartans, clicking for 21 points in the first half, 13 in the third quarter and 19 after halftime.

Moon connected five times from 3-point range, and was near-perfect at the foul line with an 11 for 12 performance.

Brentwood (5-7, 2-4) was paced offensively by junior guard Zach Keib, with 15 points, and junior forward John Milcic, with 12.

The Spartans held a 13-12 lead after one quarter but trailed 31-22 at halftime. The visitors outscored Brentwood by a 33-25 margin in the second half.

Serra Catholic (9-2, 5-0) has won nine games in a row, including two in the Indiana holiday tournament against a pair of Class 5A opponents, Indiana and West Mifflin.

The Eagles stand atop the Section 2-2A standings, one game ahead of fourth-ranked Jeannette (8-5, 4-1).

The two teams will meet Jan. 15 at Serra Catholic.
