Kiski Valley rugby teams advance to state championship games

Kiski Valley boys rugby advanced to the Rugby PA Club Division II championship game for the second consecutive season with a 32-5 win over North Penn on Saturday at Penn State Berks.

Winners of the 2016 state title, the top-seeded Titans (6-1) will try to win their second when they face No. 2 Coventry in the finals at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Peyton McCann had two trys for the Titans. Will McClarnon, Cam Taylor, Nico Venanzio and David Schuffert scored one try each, and Brent Hrobak made two conversion kicks.

Kiski Valley girls also will vie for a state championship Sunday against No. 3 Conestoga in the Division II championship at 3:45 p.m.

The girls team is looking for their first state title and are in the championship match for the fourth consecutive season.
