Latrobe’s Trent Holler narrows college choices to 3

Trent Holler pared down his lengthy list of college choices to a top three, and the rising senior lineman at Latrobe plans to announce his decision Aug. 16, his 18th birthday.
Holler, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound center and defensive end, said Tuesday his finalists are Pitt, West Virginia and East Carolina.
He said there are common traits among the trio of schools, which initially were part of his 16-offer list, one that he later trimmed to six: Connecticut, Youngstown State and Delaware also made his semifinals.
“I think those three schools give me what I’ve been looking for the most, which is a good education, great football and relationships with coaches,” Holler said.
Holler said he will announce his destination on Twitter. Until then, he is focused on training camp, which opens Monday. He has been working out with teammates this week during the PIAA’s mandatory heat-acclimatization period.
“I’m keeping it cool,” Holler said. “I have my head straight where I’m focusing on this season but still thinking a little bit on this lifetime decision.”
