Seton LaSalle’s Dom Popa, whose brother stars for Pitt, committed Monday to also play baseball for the Panthers.
The younger brother is a rising senior who batted .470 for the Rebels, who went 21-3 and won the WPIAL Class 2A title this past spring. The outfielder led his team in hits (31) and runs (23) and was second with 15 stolen bases.
Popa announced his decision on Twitter.
His brother Nico Popa led Pitt last season with a .353 batting average that ranked fifth in the ACC.
I’m extremely excited to announce that I have committed to continue my academic and baseball career at the University of Pittsburgh. Thank you to my coaches, family, and friends for helping me along the way! Hail to Pitt! #H2P @pbrpennsylvania @PerfectGameUSA @KSBombers pic.twitter.com/L7SDFG9bl6

. @ksbombers 2020 OF Dom Popa (Seton La Salle) puts the Bombers ahead 4-3 in ⬇️5 with a smooth stroke on an RBI single through the right side. The LHH ran a 6.65 at our Preseason All-State & is a nightmare on the bases. Two bags already in his game. #PBRLimitedSeries pic.twitter.com/MZfU5dUi52
