Penn State and Pitt are options if North Allegheny cornerback Joey Porter Jr. decides to stay closer to home.
But those two schools face out-of-state competition.
Porter, who drew nearly 30 scholarship offers, announced his five finalists Thursday, a list that also included LSU, Miami and Nebraska.
Rivals ranks the 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior as a four-star recruit.
West Virginia, Rutgers, Arizona State, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Colorado State, Temple, Maryland, Boston College, Buffalo, Toledo and Howard also offered Porter, whose father is a Steelers assistant coach and former star linebacker.
Porter intercepted seven passes last season, returned a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown and took a punt return to the end zone.
